If you seen the ads than you pretty much know what the movie is about. High
school teachers start acting strange and some students begin to notice. Then
it becomes war between the teachers and students. Some of you might have
recognized that the 'T2 Cop' character from Terminator 2 is one of the nasty
teachers. As a horror movie this wasn't all that great. It didn't really
scare or even surprise me at all. The comedic bits were very few and far
between. There are also times when you think why didn't the 'bad guys' get
the students earlier when they had the chance? Plus some stuff happens that
make you want an explanation for it, but none comes.
The saving grace in this movie are the characters. They somewhat rely on
typical stereotypes but with a twist, and they are all very different from
each other. The characters interaction with each other make the movie
interesting. A large part of me believes they hoped to sell this flick with
controversy. One of the hero characters is a drug dealer, who is by far the
most intelligent of the cast. The drugs themselves also play a key roll in
the story, practically promoting them to the teen-age audience the film is
aimed at. Sometimes the best way to respond to something you don't like is
to not respond at all.
If you want to see this movie, go to a matinee. Otherwise, rent it if your
really bored.
