Vext # 4 : Love Hurts

by Sidra Roberts, age 17

We’ve all seen her that beautiful blond walking down street causing traffic jams and outright Pandemonium by her simple presence. We’ve not only seen her, but each and every one of us has built her a shrine and sacrificed ourselves at her alter. Who is this woman who has such strong control over us? Paramour—Goddess of Relationships Gone Hellishly Wrong, of course. And this issue she’s coming for our hero, Vext—God of Murphy’s Law.

After her last romantic dalliance self-destructed, Paramour decided to crash at Vext’s place until her next affair. Needless to say Vext is less than thrilled ," Bed sic her!! Kill! K-Kill!" Life with Paramour trying to fix up his apartment so that it has a "woman’s touch". Later that night when the constant FlushaFlushaFlusha noise is silenced by Paramour, He thinks to himself, maybe this won’t be too bad. He’s wrong.

The secondary plotline in the book follows Aaron Caldwell, rogue archaeologist who is on the search for gods on earth(there are one 4). This issue he is on a perilous journey to find Rypta Gud’n God of Ill-timed Flatulence. Now reread the name of the god for a sick chuckle.

The final segment of the books happened before our parents were born "so we know they’re not kidding around" about how long ago this event happened. This section takes us to the Realm of the Gods on the day of Vext’s birth. Funny how gods and humans take labor just the same.

That brilliant comic genius Keith Giffen has done it, again. Giffen has create a warped, humorous, at times sick, offbeat comic. This comic probably wouldn’t appeal to the young or the easily offended after all it doesn’t have the comic seal of approval. If you have a warped sense of humor this book is definitely for you. Not only is the story brilliant, but Mike Mckone’s art is gorgeous. And on top of all of that the letter column is wonderfully witty. Vext is an awesome comic which I highly recommend to people with offbeat comic tastes.
