My name is Brigitte and I recently received a stack of old comics from
some relatives. I would like to know how I can find out the market
value on these antiques. I've been told to go to EBay, but I rather
avoid this route at all costs since I am not computer saavy. Please
e-mail me at AOPiCuT@aol.com. with any suggestions you may have.
Thanks in advance.
Brigitte
Hi Brigitte!
If you aren't computer savvy, your best bet is to go to a local comic shop and
purchase an Overstreet Price Guide. It will let you know how much
your comics are worth. You don't mention how old they are, but if
they are over 20 years old, the Overstreet guide is worth the
investment.
Hope this helps!

Grading Comics -- is there a simple guide?

Hi -
I've got some 1970's Mad Magazines I'm thinking about selling on ebay
and I'm wondering if there is a place you can point me to for grading
them -- nothing esoteric -- these aren't mint condition, but so I can
at least be honest about the terms good, VG, fine, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Steve Briggs
PS. I followed Yahoo to http://www.collectortimes.com, if
you're wondering.
Hi Steve!
Well, after some net searches, I found a site that might be helpful
to you. Grading is a difficult task, and my suggestion is to always
grade low, when in doubt about a book's grade. This site appears to
be informative, and useful, just be sure you have a little time to
peruse it:
Frankly, grading is an art and science. My daughter can do it, but she
memorized the Overstreet Grading Guide for fun :P
Good luck!

Brazilian Disney Comics

Hi,
I've a Brazilian collection of comic books. There is the #1 Donald Duck
in Brazil an about 400 others 50's and 60's comic magazines. If you know
what is the best way for me to proceed to sell it, please, contact me.
Thanks,
Mauricio
Hi Mauricio!
This is an interesting question, in that I assume the comics are in
Portugese. My first suggestion is the same as it is with any other
comic: make a list of the comics and the price that you want for each
of them and post it to the rec.arts.comics.marketplace. If you don't
have a newsreader to post from, go to www.deja.com and get an account
and post from there. I'd say I was selling these comics both in
English and in Portugese, or whatever language the comics are in.
Just because the comics are in another language, doesn't neccesarily
mean that English speakers won't be interested in them. I have a few
Spanish language comics myself. Also, English is the official
language of the newsgroups, but folks from all over the world read
them.
Another thing I looked at, and I can't tell for sure if this would be a
viable option or not, due to the language barrier, but Yahoo now has
a Yahoo Brazil. You might make a webpage with your comics list and
prices, and submit the URL to Yahoo Brazil. That way folks that are
looking for comics in that language will be able to find your site.
Good luck selling your comics!

Hi Doug!
The Collector Times is a monthly online magazine focusing on comibook
fandom's interests. It's purely a volunteer project on all of our
parts, and it's a labor of love for all of us. We feature comic opinion
articles, reviews, interviews, online comics, gaming and other types
of collectibles, like toys. We also do movie and music reviews, too.
