Very pressed for time, this month, what with all sorts of twists and turns in my life, so I dug around my hard drive and found this pic of my design for a new class of mutant-hunting Sentinel. I call it the Orion-Class Sentinel and it's an amalgamation of Sentinel and Mandroid technology.

The Sentinels began as artificially intelligent robots, capable of detecting and apprehending mutants, but have proved highly unstable, in their electronic brains. At one point, the "lead" Sentinel, called the Master Mold, was even convinced that it was a "mutant" of sorts, and led it's entire cohort of Sentinel robots to self-immolation in the Sun. The instability of the purely artificial intelligent Sentinel led me to the conclusion that a Sentinel needs a human controller, which led me to consider altering the basic Sentinel to a form of powered armor.

The Orion-Class Sentinel would be manned by a highly trained, highly motivated soldier, leading a small cadre of AI Sentinel robots of similar size and capability. In effect, he is the "squadron leader", in the field, also acting as final arbiter, when a judgment call is necessary. Each of the man-sized Sentinels would be on a par with Iron Man, in power and technology, the original Mandroids being based on Tony Stark's Iron Man technology.

An Orian-Class Sentinel

Of course, there's something to be said for the fear-inducing power of the old giant Sentinels, so there would be a few of those around, as well. All AI Sentinels would be hardwired with command over-rides slaved to the manned Orion-Class Sentinel. The power of Iron Man and the coordination of a well-trained Special Forces team. Now, let's see the X-men stand up against THAT!

That's all I have, for now. Keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that the X-men movie will be, at least, halfway decent. See you next month!
