I was handed a big pile of comics. "These are all obscure stuff we picked up at the comic con, read it, enjoy." So I greedily picked one that looked interesting, and found out that it came with a price! I had to give a short review. So, I promptly switched with AJ, and came out with the double feature of Galahad and American Wasteland, by Empire Comix.
Galahad was the side with the logo, so bravely I started with it. It looked neat on the cover, a knight with a sword slashing through the page. That was the best part. I will sum it up in a single sentence. Small but powerful hero defeats evil scientist in big robot thing. Well, they did a lot with five pages. Still, if they end up taking themselves seriously, I don’t think it’s worth the time to read it. I’m not even sure if they could make a parody work, that plot type is even overused by people making fun of it. The art was real simple, the story was simple, and the font was cool. That is, I want their letterer to write a font for my computer. Preferably now. Then I will forgive them.

American Wasteland was interesting. It was a full three pages and composed kind of background into the story. Ok, so it depicts a post-apocalyptic future, Earth mostly destroyed by some sort of virus. That’s kind of overused. The artwork was rough, it reminded me of the artwork for the Palladium TMNT stuff. I felt drawn to it. If you want my opinion, and it doesn’t matter if you don’t because you’ve already read most of it, I say check it out. The story has some hidden potential, the art does too. I liked the cover. They didn’t pay me to write this, but I’ll gladly write more good things about them if they do.
