"a few words from your lord and master"
by scott crawford

i was told last night that apparently, in cambodia, you can go to places that let you shoot a cow with a rocket launcher for $40 US. now, i've been on this planet about 26 years, give or take a few months. why wasn't i informed of this sooner? i mean, that's big news, from where i stand. hey sid, wanna have our honeymoon there? ;) *insert gratuitous dead kennedys reference here*

welcome to what will inevitably be a really brief edition of "a few words...", because 1. i've been working all week on my new web site, and 2. i have to be at work in 25 minutes, and it's a 7 minute drive from here.

anyone have a statistic yet on how many razor scooter-related fatalities there've been in the US, since the things hit stores? i'm willing to bet someone will soon.

question: how soon do you think it'll be before burnouts are trying to sell the abortion pill at phish concerts? answer: not soon enough to prevent the phish show from happening. :D

i was supposed to review a comic called "the kill me girl" about 2 months ago, lemme see if i can dig the two issues i have out and give a REALLY quick review of them. one sec...*rummaging*...ok, got time to review one issue, ah hell, here's both:

the kill me girl #0 and "at the con" special
(assuming the credits are the same as they were in the comic con special...):
written by brien cardello
drawn by ollie drac
lettered by del nayr
a tears like water production. (hey, they're from brooklyn! werd.)
p.o. box 140388
brooklyn, ny 11214

not too bad. art is kind of quasi-80's black and white indie stuff (think shuriken meets early adolescent radioactive black belt hamsters), a little scribbly, but mostly coherent definite improvement over the zero issue, in the comicon special). story wasn't as good as the main character, but the main character has potential. almost like one of the dirty pair, but less goofy and with a dirtier mouth on her. if the book gets out to the right audience (i.e. chix who think they're little badasses), this could make these folks some dough.

all in all, if you like reading/supporting indie stuff, dig the gritty feeling of b/w comics, like garth ennis' "punisher" run (which is fantastic, read it if you haven't), and also liked grant morrison's "kill your boyfriend" one-shot from some years back, you'd probably like this.
final grade: a "cup is half full ** 1/2

that's it for this month, sadly. if you want to read more of my mediocrity, there's plenty of it at (blatant plug #2):
