Okay, from the trailer and commercials I assumed that this movie was a comedy about some guys who decide to knock over a casino during an Elvis convention. I expected a bunch of exposition from them trying to figure out how to rob the casino and bumbling everything about that plan. I was DEAD wrong. This movie attempts to be serious, with little high points in the levity. Those high points are almost all in the commercials and trailer.

I will say that Kevin Costner actually proves that he can still act. After Waterworld I wasn’t so sure any more. I actually liked Costner’s character, Murph. He was the perfect demented bad guy. If I were to write a psycho, obsessed, wicked character, I hope I come close Costner’s character. For all the critics who say that this is another downturn in Costner's career, I will argue that while the film lacks severely, Costner's performance shines. Another character that ruled, though he only had five minutes screen time maximum was Ice T's character Hamilton. Man is a killing machine. He comes dangling through from his ankles with two automatic weapons one in each hand and shooting Swat guys left and right. I mean, even a GM (game master in roleplaying) wouldn't allow a character to do this without making a very high difficulty role. It was just so over the top it was amazing. Kurt Russell's goody goody character Michael is soooooo near perfect it's disgusting. While I realize Russell's character is supposed to foil Costner's and make you understand exactly how bad Murph is, he just gets on my nerves. I liked Russell's character at first, but as the movie went on I just couldn't help but think that his character was just a horrible cliché. And once again, David Arquette has proven that he is one of the most annoying individuals on the face of this earth.

The BEST part of this movie is by far the credits. You have Kurt Russell lip-synching an Elvis song and the other actors bopping along. Kevin Costner and Christian Slater dancing and jokingly pointing their guns at the camera is absolutely hilarious.

Overall, all the robbing Elvises should have been dead in the casino if this were real life. This movie is one big guns scene after another pretty much. It had an okay concept, and Kevin Costner gave a fabulous performance, but no one followed through with the original idea. I say you should see this movie on cable. Its really great way to mindlessly blow a couple hours.
