Breevort Briefing

By Sidra Roberts

I went to the Brevoort Briefing at San Diego, and these are the highlights of what I saw there:

First off, everything seems okay from Tom’s view at Marvel. There’s still going to be cranking out books and there is no sign of them stopping any time soon.

The version of the Hulk movie script that Tom saw was true to the character and setup in the book. This does not mean that it will be the script they actually use for the movie, however.

Marvel plans to release Marvel Masterworks every other month.

Marvel Essentials will come out as long as there is an audience for them. There might even be an Essentials Howard the Duck coming out.

Dare Devil Essentials will come out in October and include issues 12-21 with additional behind the scenes stuff.

There will be no Annuals ANYTIME soon. Now there will be thirteen issues every year and the thirteenth will cost the same as a normal book.

Some journalist said that Defenders was the worst comic ever produced, which Tom claims trumps any claims that X-Force deserves that title. They are all very amused by this new commentary.

And finally, 100 Greatest Marvels will start coming out in October or November. It’s a "greatest of" collection and "very predictable," according to Breevort.
