It's that time of month again. No . . . not that time. It's time
for the RP top ten list of the month. So, without further ado (and because
I have a deadline to keep), here it is.
Top Ten Reasons this Column has somehow become a Top Ten List
- While it's much easier than making a Top 20 list, it shows I can put in more work than a dinky little top 5 list. Also, it flows a lot better than the Top Nine.
- It makes me feel more like that Letterman guy (but not LOOK like him, thank goodness).
- Now I can use that handy dandy countdown function on my word processor one more time a month than I normally do.
- This way I can organize the (possibly) funny parts in an easy-to-read format, so you don't have to sort through any of that other stuff to get to the punchline (like grammar, for instance).
- It lets me practice those oft underused 1st grade math skills.
- I sat down and thought about it, and realized I don't have a single important thing to say . . . so if I say ten of them, it might seem a little better.
- Just like double spacing, it makes my column look longer and thus my editor is happier (and she has a bullwhip . . . it is important to keep her happy).
- [This is your point, fill it in with something you think is funny.]
- When I only have nine things to say, I can let you fill in the blank point.
And the number one reason this column is a top ten list . . .
- I get to picture your faces as you read this, eagerly awaiting my chance to crush any hopes that you have that the number one point will contain any trace of humor.
