Toy Chest

By: Mathew Bredfeldt Mathew_Bredfeldt@nospamhotmail.com

After some begging and pleading on the part of our fair editor, I am back to spread all the toy news that is fit to print online. I don't know about what my replacement wrote about, but hopefully he met my tough journalistic standards.

First up this month is the Transformers line of toys from Hasbro. They have two lines coming out late this year or early next year. First is the Alternators line of figures so far I only have a list of two names for the line; Smokescreen and Sideswipe. These are supposed to have the same level of detail as the original toys from 20 years ago, and from what I can see they have not skimped on the detail. The other line is called the Energon and will be for Armada. Look for characters such as Inferno, Hot Shot, Ravage and Skyblast to hit shelves soon.

The Masters of the Universe line, by Mattel, is getting a shot in the arm with their serpent hunting versions to be released this month. Look for Snake Hunter He-Man, Serpent Attack Mekaneck and Serpent Claw Man-At-Arms as well as the non-snake hunting Fisto. All of these figures should be out in time to get them for your He-Man fan for Christmas.

The Marvel Legends line is letting you get some figures you might have missed out on the first time around. Toy Biz is releasing two packs of figures of some of their more popular releases. I do not have an exact pack-by-pack breakdown, but look for Beast, Magneto, Gambit, Rogue, Punisher, Spider-Man, Daredevil and Electra. All figures should be out Soon, if not now.

The Simpsons has another wave of figures due out now. First look for Chef Luigi, babysitter on the run Ms. Botz, Mobster Bodyguard Louie, Sarcastic Man, Teacher Ms. Hoover, and a figure I'm sure everyone has been waiting for Kilt Willie. Also, look for an Aztec Theater playset with McBain action figure.

Here's something I thought I would never have in my articles in a million years, but it looks like Barbie is going DC. Keep your eyes peeled for Barbie as Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl and a Diamond Previews exclusive Barbie as Catwoman. All of these should be out this month.

That looks like all for this month look for more from me in the months ahead. Any questions, comments, ideas, just e-mail me at the address above.
