Toy Chest

I finally managed to get all the Toy Fair information together for the article this month, so let's jump in with both feet.

First up this month is DC Direct, which has a boatload of stuff coming out this year. There will be a second line of Hush figures based on the Batman storyline of the same name. This second series will have Superman, Riddler, Nightwing, Catwoman and Harley Quinn. These will be out in October. There will also be a Justice League Satellite series of figures that will start in November that will have fan favorites Firestorm, Atom, Adam Strange and Elongated Man. Last up will be a line of the modern Teen Titans that will be out in September.

The big thing for those Star Wars fans out there will be Hasbro releasing Star Wars figures on vintage cards. The first three figures will be Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo in the 3.75-inch line. There will also be a Vintage 12-inch line that will have Luke Skywalker, Stormtrooper and Boba Fett. These will all be due out in fall.

Toycom is releasing a line of mini-figures based on the anime Rurouni Kenshin. There will be the wandering Samurai Kenshin, Hiko, Sojiro, Aoshi and the vengeful Lord Shishio. Look for these this month.

Starting this month, figures for the Spider-Man 2 movie are going to come out. This month there will be Spin and Kick Spidey, Battle Attack Spidey, and Doc Ock. In July there will be a Cloth Coat Doc Ock, Spider Sense Spidey and Scooter Spidey.

There will also be some limited support for the Punisher movie. Other than a figure from the Toy Biz Marvel Legends line, there will be a 12-inch version of the movie Punisher from Marvel Studios. He will have cloth clothing and an arsenal of weapons that you can pose him with. Look for the 12-inch Punisher figure to be out this month.

Lord of the Rings is not going to be left out of this article. With the six-inch figures being on smaller cards there will be a lot more of them to hit the pegs; even though there is no new movie due out. There will be a Birthday Bilbo for the Fellowship line, Aragorn from The Two Towers and Shelob from Return of the King all of which are due out in July. In October there will be Isildur, Theodred and Denethor in this series. Also out in July, there will be two monsters due out. One is an Attack Troll and the other will be a Fell Beast with an awesome 32-inch wingspan and rider.

I would be remiss if I did not include some Transformers: Energon toys in my article. In what could be the biggest Transformer to hit the stores since Unicron, Omega Supreme will be hitting store shelves in the Summer standing a whopping 16-inches tall. He will also have the ability to combine with Optimus Prime to make him stand even taller. There is also the Transformers Alternators line that will be coming this fall. This line will have Hound (A Jeep 4x4), Silverstreak (Suburu Impreza) and Tracks (Corvette).

That's about all for this month, if you have any ideas for articles, comments or job offers; write me at the e-mail address above. Just remove the '12345' from my e-mail address.
