CVO is a branch of the CIA, dedicated to taking care of the really nasty threats to the world. There's one slight hitch-- it's composed of vampires. Vampires, who typically appear to have been made by having unfortunately been murdered by rogue vampires. Of course, for all I know, they could be purposefully selected, but the original implication is that they're murder victims.

The country of Sinespera (for those of you in the audience who don't speak Spanish, that translates into "without hope" *groan*) is under the rule of a military dictator named General Emil Malodor (if you can't translate the last name I'm not helping you, it's not worth it). And General Malodor has purchased 5 Ex-Soviet nuclear suitcase bombs and is threatening to use magic to deliver them with GPS accuracy to "The oval office, president's desktop" if their demands aren't met. To combat this threat, the CVO is sent in and encounters more than they bargained for in the form of a demon named Karssus, who General Malodor hired to drop the nukes.

Origins are told, battles are fought, and the good guys save the day. All and all it's a very good comic book, with nifty looking art. Though I can never quite tell which one Cross is supposed to be. I'm not sure it stands up to what it boasts on the back cover "A fresh new approach that will forever alter your view of vampires." It's interesting and it's cool, but I've read too much vampire stuff to have my view of vampires inexorably changed. This one shot apparently came out at the beginning of the year. So now there are more available stories of the CVO, and you can check it out at < a href="http://www.idwpublishing.com">www.idwpublishing.com .
