Dinomania

Earlier this month I got a package from our intrepid editor. I really had no clue what was in it because I could not contact her because she was going to be away from her computer on the Great East Coast Netstalking Tour. Anyway I tore into it and found a press kit for this new collectable wave that is supposed to be sweeping the country and that is Dinomania.

Apparently this collectable craze hit Japan pretty hard and is now going to hit the United States with guns blazing.

What is Dinomania? Well I’ll tell you.

Dinomania is a set of 24 hand painted miniature plastic dinosaurs that you have to assemble to get the full effect of.

My only complaints are these. First they are miniatures you have to assemble. Now I by no means have small hands, in fact they are rather large. Anyway some of them are easy to assemble, but some of them are hard to assemble because the pieces are so small you need tweezers to get them together. Either that or they were not meant to be put together by children and not adults.

Second is the fact that most children, or adults for that matter, have not heard of half of these dinosaurs. The only one I could identify in the three packs I got was an Anklosaur. Where is the Triceratops, Stegosaurus or any of those dinosaurs that kids can identify in their sleep. Heck there’s even a T-Rex on the package but there’s no T-Rex model in this first set.

So far there's only been one place that I have seen these is one of my local comic/game/hobby store. I did not get a price on them, but a conservative estimate would be $5 given what you get.

Overall for the first set I’m going to say, take a pass on this one unless you are a dinosaur freak or your kids need something for a science project.
