Toy Chest

Well after some time off, I’m back writing for you toy collectors and I have some information that you might find useful. As always if you have any ideas for stories I should write then by all means e-mail me and I’ll see what I can do.

First off the line this month is DC Direct and their Green Lantern line. The first line in the series will include Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Hal’s alter ego Parallax, Kilowog and Green Lantern bad guy Black Hand as well as, Ganthet, a member of the Guardians. Look for them some time in March 2005.
Next up is the Transformers Alternators line. This line started a few months back with highly detailed versions of Transformers based on modern automobiles. This line continues with Tracks who, in car mode, is a Corvette Z06. There is also Meister who is a Mazda RX-8. Look for these in your favorite store now.

Speaking of Transformers, the Energon line is still chugging along strong as ever. This time the line is going to include two repaints of figures that are already out. First up is Hound which is a Green and blue repaint of Ironhide. Then there is Dreadwing. Dreadwing is a gray and purple repaint of Mirage. I must admit that he looks really cool. Look for them on shelves right now.

Last up this month is the Star Wars line. First there are the action figures based on the Clone Wars cartoon. There have been ones based on the first series of cartoons, but none from the second series. Well that is about to change. Due out in January 2005 the first three figures from the second animated series will come out. Look for the likenesses of General Grievous, Anakin Skywalker and an ARC Trooper to hit shelves. Second, there is the Original Trilogy Collection (OTC). This line has been out since the summer, but it was not until this month that my local toy stores finally got around to putting them out. For around $5 each you can own a basic collection figure. I looks to me like that they are slowly trying to re-release the figures that they put out during the late 70’s and early 80’s. So if your favorite is not out yet, then just wait a few months, and they might just put out the one you have been looking for. The third and final line is the OTC Classic figures. These figures come with a hefty price tag of $10, but some of them come with cloth robes and on classic cards and in a plastic clamshell case. I have a hard time justifying the $10 for one figure that is on a classic card. The good part is that they only have a limited number of figures in the line so that should keep most of the collectors happy.
