I figured since this is going to be the last Toy
Chest of 2004 I would like
to do a preview of what's coming in 2005.
First up is Star Wars. With a new movie and new
packaging for the figures
due out for the new movie, it means they are going
to get out the last of the old movie figures
before the new ones come out. Look for four new
figures to be hitting shelves soon. These are Jedi
Pablo-Jill, Wookiee senator Yarua, and an
assistant to the chancellor Sly Moore along with
another Padme and handmaiden Rabe.
For DC Directs third series of First Appearances
Figures, they will be
showing them as they appeared on the covers of
their comics. Look for The Riddler, Nightwing,
Modern Batgirl and Composite Superman (a
half-Batman half-Superman figure). Look for these
some time in May 2005.
Also DC Direct, in October, will be coming
out with a series of
figures based on the Batman classic The Long
Halloween. These figures will have between 9 and
13 points of articulation and the figures will be
Batman, Two-Face, Mad Hatter, Catwoman, and the
Joker.
For the old school Star Trek fan, there will be
four old Trek versions of
figures. Look for Yellow Shirt Kirk, Green Skinned
Orion slave girl, Kor the Klingon, a Salt Vampire
and a Gorn in this springtime set.
Bandai is giving us more Teen Titans goodness in
the year ahead. For the 3 ½ inch line will be a new Cyborg sculpt, as well
as the Master of Games, the Puppet King, as well
as Speedy, Mas and Menos. There will also be a new
spider-like T-Vehicle which has a whole bunch of
accessory arms for you to use. There will be a
line of 10-inch figures due out with Cyborg, Robin
and Starfire. There will also be 6 ½ inch line of
plush dolls of Robin, Beast Boy and Aqualad.
Last up, for those of us that are fans of the
Adult Swim block of shows on
Cartoon Network, there will be a series of
two-packs from the various shows. Look for a mom
and dad two pack from the Brack Show, Master Shake
and Mothmonsterman from Aqua Teen Hunger Force,
Bear and Phil from Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law,
and Quinn and Debbie from SeaLab 2021. These are
all due out from Palasades.
I hope you enjoyed this look into the toys due out
in 2005, look for more from me in the year ahead.
Happy Holidays.
