First up this month is Toy Biz and the Marvel Legends line. Series 14, due out in August, has the likes of Psylocke, Longshot, Power Man, Baron Zemo, Falcon and a first appearance Iron Man. The Build a character for this series is Mojo. Series 15, due out in October, will have the likes of Moon Knight, Thor Buster Iron Man, Spider Woman, Captain Marvel, Wasp and Beta-Ray Bill. The build a character for this series will be M.O.D.O.K.
There will also be a Wal-Mart only series of Marvel Legend figures. I don't have a release date for them yet, but when I do you'll be the first ones I contact. This line will have the likes of Warbird, Sentry, Thor, Captain Britain, Kitty Pride, Ant Man, Havok, Age of Apocalypse Wolverine and Sabretooth. The build a character for this group will be Giant Man.
More from Toy Biz this month is the Face-Off series of figures. There are at least two series of figures planned. These are two packs of figures showing some of the best times these two characters have faced off. The first series of figures contains three two packs. They include a Hulk vs Leader, Kingpin vs Daredevil, and Captain America vs Red Skull. There are two variant packs out there; one is The Leader with tall brain rather than brain parted down the middle. The other is Captain America with Baron Strucker rather than Red Skull. Series two will have Iron Man vs Mandarin, Punisher vs Jigsaw and Wolverine vs Sabretooth.
Toy Biz's Amazing Spider-Man keeps rolling with three more figures in June and two more in August. The three in June are Mad Jack, Shocker and House of M Spider-Man. The two in August are Electro and Toxin.
Everyone's favorite mutant super team, the X-Men, get a shot in the arm in July. Look for the likes of Rogue in her X-Treme X-Men outfit, Avalanche in a more modern look, Ultimate Nightcrawler and Sabretooth, Astonishing Colossus (I knew he was not dead) and three different Iceman figures; Icy, Plain and Ultimate Iceman.
DC Direct has a line of JSA figures in November. Look for the likes of Dr. Mid-Nite, Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl and Hourman along with a golden age Atom two pack.
Mattel has taken a licensing deal with DC Comics and is producing figures of Superman and Batman heroes and villains. The first of 4 waves should be out now, and will alternate between Batman and Superman. The first Superman wave will have Superman, Bizarro, Supergirl and Doomsday. The second wave will be Batman intensive and be out in April. The line will contain the likes of Battle Damaged Batman, Mr. Freeze, Azrael and Robin. The third wave will contain more Batman goodness and have Batman, Batgirl (Barbra Gordon), Two Face and Joker. The third line is due out in July. The fourth line is another Superman line and have Battle Damaged Superman, Darkseid, Brainiac and Lex Luthor. All of those will be due in September.
Hasbro has more on the Star Wars front. This time they have reached into the wayback machine and grabbed more of the vintage style Original Trilogy Collection figures. There are five of the due out this May and they include the likes of Tuskin Raider, Greedo, and Luke as an X-Wing pilot from the original Star Wars movie and Han Solo in Trench Coast and a Biker Scout from Return of the Jedi. The best part about this is that there is going to be a mail away for a George Lucas in Storm Trooper outfit. So everyone go out and buy two of each so you have one to open and get the Lucas figure and one set closed to collect.
Hasbro also has more 3.75" goodness to come out sometime this spring that you can purchase on their web site, Http://www.HasbroToyShop.com, they look to have new versions of Airtight, The Baroness, Cobra Trooper, Lady Jaye, Low Light, Monkeywrench, Night Viper and Outback. I've looked at the prices of these figures and they seem vary reasonable for having to order it on-line and have it shipped to your house.
Diamond Select Toys just keeps getting the major Sci-Fi toy lines. They have the Stargate SG-1 license and are producing action figures with it. I believe I hit upon this last month, but I left off one figure. O'Neill is that missing figure and he comes in a variety of versions. There's going to be the Black-Ops Jack as well as various others. The first series will be out in May. The second wave will be out in September and have Teal'c, Carter and the alien Thor. There will be a Black Ops Teal'c that will be short packed as well as a Regent Teal'c with Egyptian alien armor that is going to be a Previews exclusive.
That's all for this month; as always comments and article ideas can be directed at my editor and I'll be sure to get them.
