As we all unmistakably know, unless you've somehow been living in a
cave for the past couple weeks, the holiday season is fast
approaching. Luckily for you I have a holiday present suggestion for
you. Talent in trade paperback. Talent is the intriguing tale of a man who goes down in a horrible plane crash and by a miracle survives. There's only one catch, and it's a mighty big catch. When everyone on the plane gives you their life force so that you can survive, they expect you to do something for them in return. Nicholas Dane was a mild mannered, moderately decent, thirty something college English professor. When he boarded flight 654, he expected a smooth flight. Things were a little more exciting because a prize winning boxer was on board and their landing was delayed, but overall, it was nothing to write home about. When they were given clearance to land, that's when IT happened. Nicolas Dane's world went dark, and when he came to twelve hours after the crash still alive and underwater, he was face to face with the rescue team, and he was starting to drown. Rescued from the drowning and hypothermia, Nicholas Dane is at a loss for why he alone survived the crash. The media is calling it a miracle. The problem with being a miracle is that it attracts the wrong kind of attention from people who are trying to silence all indications of miracles in the world. From the beginning in his hospital room, Nicholas Dane starts to get visions-visions of the lives led by his former fellow passengers-- a wife's last angry words to her husband, the fighter's dirty laundry, the demons of an assassin. Along with these visions, Nicholas Dane inherits their abilities, at least until he can fulfill their final wishes. Assuming the agents of darkness don't kill him first. Talent isn't necessarily a unique concept. Having to right wrongs for people who are no longer capable of righting them themselves is a common storytelling theme. Talent simply goes about it in a different way. As with most comics by Boom Studios it has an almost cinematic feeling to it. It's exciting and it has room to keep going on for a long while. So if you have someone on your holiday list that likes supernatural action adventure, this is something for them. You can order it online from Boom Studios at http://www.boom-studios.com/node/1222 For only 14.99, it's a real deal.
