Scream Queen is a cheesy, bad horror movie in comic book form. It has the high school stereotypes down pat: hot unpopular girl, wild child friend, cute jock interested in said unpopular girl, jealous princess, and homicidal, dim-witted monster who also falls for said unpopular girl. Which of course begs the question, as phrased in Ten Things I Hate About You, "What's with this chick? She got beer flavored nipples or something?" Given that this is a bad teen horror movie in comic form, the answer could very well be yes.

I'll admit right out that this really isn't my genre. I only like horror movies when they're so bad they wrap their way back to good. Other than that, I avoid horror movies like the plague. I don't do creepy. I'm only vaguely willing to do campy. I freak out too easily.

This comic so far centers around a girl who works at the slurpee store at the mall called Grape Scott, which is just groan inducingly pun-ny and the dim witted monster that lives at the mall under the care of the cantankerous janitor. In issue one, the janitor bites the big one and the monster is left to navigate the wide world on his own. The monster has all the brilliant of a lame remake of Frankenstein and the weakness for kind pretty girls, like King Kong.

The only downside to the cheesy badness is the art which sometimes makes the characters a little difficult to discern from one another. Overall, if you're a campy horror movie fan this book is definitely worth looking into.
