Origin: |
Andrew's parents were part of a government sponsored
think tank which had the mission of taking presumed
latent super humans (mostly siblings of those with
powers) and breeding them in hopes that their children
would grow to develop abilities. When Andrew was
four, his older brother Malcolm displayed superhuman
speed and reflexes by outracing a hot rod. The
family soon moved to the Washington, D.C. area so the
project could better observe the siblings. Andrew was a normal child who displayed no signs of exo-human traits. As he grew into adolescence he developed a friendship with Ellie McDonaldson, who was another one of the project's failures. At the age of fifteen Andrew was in a car accident which left him brain damaged. Oddly enough, he soon recovered. His brain matter not only regenerated but he was soon making massive leaps in the fields of particle physics, engineering, aeronautics, chemistry, software design and genetics. He started his own company. At 17, he began going to sites of UFO crash landings to acquire and reverse engineer, technology needed to bring some of his ideas to completion. Soon he had developing Earth based technology for the military and for civilian use. These accomplishments had put him up for nomination for several Nobel Prizes, all of which he has turned down citing that the award was designed for human achievement, which he would not qualify for. At some point in the late 90s, the government put him in charge of a unit of super heroes. While he never went on field missions, he proved to be a brilliant tactician. After a few missions, Andrew saw that the government showed the team little respect and gave the team little pay. With some help from his "friends" in government black ops, he was able to take full control of the team and turned them from a government controlled unit into a highly paid independently contracted company with control over the types of missions they took. This group was accountable only to Andrew. Andrew didn't leave his manipulations to mere political goals. In spite of his lack of emotional response, he still deeply cared for Ellie. Amongst the super human community was one Lucas Curry, a rock star turned super hero. In some weird way, Andrew saw in Lucas a kindred spirit. The type of man he might have become had fate took his life in a different direction. Fearing Ellie's growing unhappiness at Andrew's distance and knowing that Ellie herself was a latent super powered being, he invited Curry to join the team and then intentionally delayed the meeting just to see if sparks would fly. In 1995, he laced his sister's AD/HD medication with a nanobot to unlock her psychic powers. At the present time, Andrew is deeply enmeshed with the military industrial complex, though some might argue that they are in bed with him. He actively gives money to both political parties ensuring that no matter what face the presidency takes, he ultimately takes victory. His is a vast conglomerate that makes everything from active wear to managing zoological parks. |
Personality: |
Before his powers kicked in, Andrew was a hyperactive
and very sensitive young man. He was very much in
love with Ellie, but could never tell her. After the
accident, he became a cold, very emotionally distant
person. He is methodical to the extreme. He has
backup plans for everything including his backup
plans. While he is capable of out thinking almost
anyone on the fly, he prefers to look at a problem
from many angles and choose the solution that gets him
the most benefit at the least cost. Some have theorized that the rapid increase in his intelligence made him disconnect from humanity and made him more machine like. Others say his seemingly cold hearted demeanor and more Machiavellian tactics are merely a sign of jealousy for those who live the "normal life" that he can no longer have.

Quote: | "Ladies and Gentlemen of the Nobel committee, I find the fact that you are giving this award for my invention of a car that runs off garbage to be an insult. The Nobel is after all, designed to bestowed upon the highest in human achievement. It'd be like the Westminster Kennel Club awarding it's best in show prize to John O'Hurley." |

Real Name: | Lucas Ian Curry |
Legal Status: | American Citizen with no criminal record |
Place of Birth: | Baltimore, Maryland |
Marital Status: | Unmarried, but seeing someone |
Known Relatives: | Karen Curry, Max Curry (parents, divorced), Stacy Curry (half-sister) |
Base of Operations: | Towson, Maryland |
First Appearance: | League of Explorers, Chapter One |
Origin: |
Lucas had a fairly normal childhood till the age of
13. He was a very talented musician and played three
instruments, his favorite being the clarinet. Then,
when he was in just the right mood, music began to
flow out of his body. It was soon discovered he had
abilities that placed him outside the typical human
species. Months later he began to have trouble
with his hearing. As his powers developed, the less
he could hear. After the progression stopped and Lucas received his first pair of hearing aids, he found he could still play music, but with a great degree of difficulty. This left him with a bit of a shy demeanor which only seemed to lift when he was on stage playing. His music often masked, to others anyway, a somewhat cynical attitude. Due to his mom's financial trouble, Lucas joined a few of his friends in a small garage band called The Polarized Ions. After a song ended up in a local indy flick that got nationwide distribution, the band went on to get a recording contract. In spite of making lots of money, Lucas still wanted to play his clarinet, but could never find away to work it into a song. Lucas had other problems with the band. He was writing most of the material and they were reaping all of the benefits. The other guys got dozens of groupies and were taking various drugs. He did his best to try to stop it, but found it difficult. Lucas was on the bill of a large music festival when a young hip hop star was attacked. He saw the gunman raise his weapon seconds before the shots were fired. He fired a mild sonic blast and disabled the gunman, but it was too late, the young hip hop star was killed. He was grief stricken by the idea that if he had reacted sooner, a young man close to his age would still be alive. It was at that moment he decided to finally embrace the "other" talents he possessed. A few weeks after that, he caught the attention of Andrew Weinstein and his own secret project, The League of Explorers. While mostly chosen by the President, Lucas was one of a select few chosen by Weinstein. He was eventually made deputy leader of the team. It was through Andrew that Lucas met Ellie McDonaldson. Both are creative spirits and the two were attracted to each other almost immediately. Not to say things have always been easy, what with (as far as either of them know) their being different species. Where Lucas is shy and reserved in person and easy going on stage, she is an energetic woman in her personal life but often shies away from having her artwork on display. Lucas's life began to unravel when the Enquirer released photos of him changing costume from Harmonics to his civilian identity. Details of his personal life, including a physical relationship with a "normal person" became tabloid fodder. Lucas then retreated into his super human identity almost 24/7, save for when he was spending time with Ellie. Sometime after that, Weinstein asked him with help torturing a terrorist. This lead to his resigning from The League of Explorers and Weinstein blackballing him out of what little remained of his music career. This introduced strain on his relationship with Ellie, who eventually dumped him. At this point, Lucas picked up some small gigs as a producer for some small alternative bands in Canada, one of the few places where an ostracized, liberal American could still work. |
Personality: |
Lucas is a somewhat of a shy person until you get to
know him. It's got a bit of a cynical side, but
never without reason. He's often very glib and
sarcastic and has issues with authority, particularly
music producers who think they know everything and
members of the military industrial complex. The irony
that at one point or another he has been working as both does not
escape him. He has a tightly guided moral compass. He
would rather be unhappy but have done the right thing
than be happy and know he has done the wrong thing.
He has occasional bursts of selfishness as he tries to
cling to "the normal life."

Height: | 5'10" |
Weight: | 225 Lbs |
Hair Color: | Black |

Powers: |
Lucas can control, manipulate and emit any
frequency of sound from below the human audible range
to the equivalent of a small earthquake.

Quote: | "You know what the best thing about my powers is, Jon? Remember how in the Bill and Ted movies their air guitar would miraculously sound like real? Yeah, I can do that. The ladies aren't as impressed as you'd think. Air guitar: not a good way to pick up chicks. There was one who really liked it if I'd play for her after sex. Gods, I loved her." |

They say behind every great man is a great woman.
Few know this as well Ellie McDonaldson. As a child,
Ellie was a close friend with Andrew Weinstein. The
two were on the verge of dating when Andrew had his
accident. When he returned, he seemed to lose
interest in her. Ellie began spending more and more time in the art in and theater programs at school. In spite of her good grades and scholarship, she still couldn't get into the college she wished to attend. During her senior year, Andrew came crashing back into her life. He offered to pay her whole college education as long as she worked part time as his company the rest of the school year and during the summer. At first she was thrilled to have her old friend back. Over the course of several months, she went from fetching coffee to actually handling copy jobs and ultimately to becoming Andrew's personal assistant. After a few months, he began to act very strangely. Ellie began to become suspicious that her oldest friend had been tricked into getting into something dangerous. Around that time, Lucas Curry came to the office (in his super hero guise) for a meeting with Andy. Being a big fan of both his music (and charity projects) she tried to get an autograph. She was surprised that in spite of his rock star image, Curry was a somewhat shy, very compassionate man. She couldn't help flirting with him. She was somewhat shocked when the flirtation was returned. The two were fast friends. Andrew had tried to over work her to the point where her creative spirit had no time to vent. She and Lucas brought out the best in each. They both began to explore their creative sides together. She convinced Lucas to finish high school. She received an acknowledgment as a muse on the four CDs The Polarized Ions produced between 98-01. Under the stress of losing her job at Weinstein Enterprises, struggling to make ends meet while in graduate school and the fact that she believed that she could never have Lucas's children, she ended their relationship. Lucas soon left for Canada. During the six years absence of Lucas, she had three short lived relationships (with normal men) that didn't seem to go anywhere. Upon Lucas's return to United States, she went to visit him. They shared an unplanned encounter in his dressing room. Unbeknownst to her, she is several weeks pregnant Andrew Weinstein had been manipulating them both from the get go. She has no powers herself, but she is what Andrew calls "a genetic keystone," someone who has latent genes that is compatible with human and exohuman.
|
Personality: |
Ellie is a loud mouth, often outspoken
woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind but is often
afraid of what people think of her art. (It is why
some of her early paintings are signed EJM). She is
generally loyal and supportive to those who do the
same for her.

"You fired him? Not only from your little
squad of soldiers for hire but from a band he helped
build? If I had known that, I would have gone with
him. After what you cost me, you can take this job and
shove it."

As a child, Angelica Weinstein always enjoyed hanging

range of telepathic abilities. She has to
remain medicated lest risk letting her stray random
thoughts escape to someone else's head. Angelica was an early, but reluctant recruit to Andrew's team The League of Explorers. At first she had a slight crush on Lucas Curry. Since childhood she had grown to see Ellie like a big sister. Her crush on Lucas eventually subsided when she saw how happy he and Ellie were. She eventually began dating a team member named Joshua. The two are sort of an on again, off again thing but they are obviously very fond of each other. When Joshua disappeared on a mission into the Bermuda Triangle, she attempted to convince Lucas Curry to go looking for him.

In spite her of her brilliance, which is
no where near her brother's, Angelica is somewhat

Quote: |
"I've got brains out the yin-yang and the chest
of an anime character. You'd think I'd be the one
dating the rock stars, not Tina Fey's younger and
blonder clone. What do I get? The sweet goofball
klutz. On the plus side, Josh can do his own cooking
without setting the apartment on fire. Maybe I did
get the better guy..."
