I didn't have much going on this month. Still way behind on comics. Hope one day my web comics get popular enough to get me on the comp lists for Marvel and DC, etc. That'd be sweet. So, when it came time to do the column, this month, I decided to use some artwork I did for the convention I'll be attending in March. All-Con has been around for a few years now, and seems to get a little bigger every year.

It's very fan-friendly and fun, and if you're going to be in the Dallas area the weekend of the March 13-15, I hope you'll swing by and checkit out. For info, check out http://www.all-con.org/.

This con will feature the debut of my awesome vinyl banner, which I had hanging on my wall for weeks after I got it, it's just so cool to see a piece of my artwork printed!

So, one of the symbols of All-Con is the "super con-girl" in the logo. Each year, they have a different artist, as depicted in the image on the left.

Obviously, she was originally based on the Superman and JL animated version of Supergirl in the first couple of years, but later versions have artists doing their own thing with her. For 2009, the design is based on a character from the web comic Tiki Colada, by Jonathan Caustrita. There's a contest for the 2010 Super Con-Girl and I did three entries that will be in the Art Gallery at the con, for attendees to vote on. If you're going to be at the con, check 'em out and vote for one of mine!

This first design, I just put together a costume for fun.

For the second design, I went with tradition. Hey, it was good enough for the first two years, and one of those is by Adam Hughes! I tried to make her a little more dynamic than in the previous years.

This last design is obviously based on my Galaxia character from Ad Astra. I reworked the costume to accomodate the All-Con logo. I think it came out pretty good. I hope this one is chosen. Vote early and often!

I love comic conventions and I'd do one every weekend, if I didn't have to work a day job. Maybe I should apply for a Federal subsidy, all the cool kids are doing it, these days, ain't they?

With any luck, I'll get accepted in the Artists Alley for Dragon Con, this year. I've wanted to attend Dragon Con for awhile, but never managed to arrange my schedule to make it.

BTW, if you run a convention and are looking for a guest artist, get in touch with me. I can't do anything on short notice, gotta work the job schedule to get away, but would love to do some more cons.
