WHAT I CARE TO SEE
By Stephane Morrell

STAR TREK

As most Star Trek fans, I was somewhat worried. New people playing classic favorites. At the same time, being a JJ Abrahms fan, I figured he was the best person to do it.

Many "purists" are upset with changes that were made and even Abrahms was quoted as saying that purists should not even bother. I as a person who used to be a trekkie ( and yes, I use the term trekkIE ) disagree! I was very happy with it. Even my "nitpick bone" was satisfied with the choices he made right from the start to justify any changes he decided to make.

Casting could not have been more perfect, they reflect the spirit of the original characters so well and using many relative unknowns meant bringing pure casting to the table ( not a lot of "star power" other than Leonard Nimoy himself ). Keep an eye out for Simon Pegg as Scotty, genius!

Add to that the fact that the action never stops. At no point did I feel myself hoping for the end of the movie. I could have watched that all day and the USS Enterprise has never looked better.
