The Incredibles #0-3

Boom! Comics has started releasing The Incredibles comic as a monthly title. The First four issues (0-3) covered some interesting territory. It covered the whole thing with Jack-Jack's powers. It appears that Jack-Jack has the ability to copy the powers of any other super once he was exposed to an alien virus. This goes counter to what the characters say early on and what they said in the movie that he had no powers at all. The short that was on the DVD of The Incredibles, Jack-Jack Attack, showed the powers he had that they should have known about because the comics take place after the movie. Otherwise the story is great and the villains are really memorable.

FCBD Gold Comics Announced

The list of comic books on the gold level of Free Comic Book Day 2010 was announced earlier today and so far it's beginning to look like a snooze fest compared to 2009. Ape Entertainment has a Shrek and Madagascar Penguins book.

Archaia Entertainment has a Mouse Guard and Fraggle Rock book.

Archie has Archie's Summer Splash #1

BOOM! Studios has a Toy Story book just in time for the release of the new movie in Summer 2010.

Dark Horse has a Doctor Solar/Magnus book by Jim Shooter. If Shooter can keep up what he was doing when Valiant fell apart in the 90's then he might have a hit on his hands.

DC Comics has War of the Supermen #0. This is supposed to be the precursor to the big rest of the year event in 2010 like Blackest Night #0 was for this year. This does not look like it is going to interest me at all. Heck Blackest Night #0 did not even interest me and I read it twice.

Drawn and Quarterly has a Yow! The John Stanley Library book.

IDW has GI Joe 155 1/2 that is supposed to pick up where the Marvel book left off sixteen years ago. This one pinged my radar, but unless it is done by Larry Hama then I'm going to take a big pass on it.

Image has Fractured Fables, a book that is being used to advertise a hardcover anthology from Silverline Books.

Marvel has Iron Man/Thor FCBD 2010 Edition. The little blurb they have on the site is says that "A Major New Direction for the Marvel Universe Kicks off here." Wasn't I promised this this year by Marvel during FCBD and that only lead to my disinterest in Dark Reign; where Norman Osborn took over pretty much every title, and every title that was important got the Adjective dark in its title.

Seventy-Five Most Iconic DC Covers

It's getting to be the end of the year and that means the Comic Book Resources web site is looking for things to fill in for regular news and one of the things they did was a list of the 75 Most Iconic DC Comics Covers according to readers of their web site.

Here's a shortened link since CBR does not like to have short URL's: http://bit.ly/7J2Qew

I'm not going to quibble about the list, but I definitely agree with #6. The cover was just perfect and was in fact repeated with different characters for two others in that series alone.

Star Wars News:

It appears that even though it was late, Star Wars the Force Unleashed game has sold so well that there is a sequel planned for the game, Star Wars the Force Unleashed II that is to be released some time in 2010. My younger brother saw that the local Gamestop was taking pre-orders for the game while going to get a present for a family member.

I just have a question for those of you that have played this game; does it leave anything dangling, plot wise, that justifies them making a sequel to the game?

Personally I think this is just a grab at money until they can get the juggernaut that is going to be the live action television series off the ground in late 2010 or 2011. Frankly I've not played the game, but I don't think it came out for the Wii and if it did, it probably did not have all the neat stuff you could do with it with the Wiimote and Nunchuk.

An Early Departure From This Mortal Plane

In other news, actress Brittany Murphy passed away today of a heart attack at the age of 32. She was one of the stars of the 90's hit movie Clueless as well as was the voice of LuAnne Platter on the recently cancelled by Fox animated show King of the Hill. Apparently according to NBC news she was well liked by everyone she worked with. LuAnne has now gone to be with Buckley in the Mega-Lo Mart in the sky. I wonder what happened that caused her to have the heart attack. She was my age and I'm in much worse shape than she was.

FCBD Silver Supporter List

The full list of Free Comic Book Day books finally came out and this must be some kind of record because it is about five months and a week away.

The list of Silver Level Supporters seems to be a bit random. Sure there is stuff like the Johnny DC books as well as some stuff from Archie, BOOM!, Bongo, but there is stuff like the Bluewater Productions book Fame that is covering famous people and in this preview issue there is Lady GaGa. The highlight of the silver series is going to be The Tick book that they are putting out in honor of the books 24th anniversary. It shows all of its twenty-four years with the View Master around The Tick's neck on the cover.

Also, promote the release of the sequel to the smash hit Iron Man movie from 2008 they will be having a War Machine mini for the HeroClix game and some three card packs of collector cards from the movie and collectable card game cards for the soon to be released Marvel Card Game.

Here's a link to the list of everything that is going to be available for order: http://www.freecomicbookday.com/comics.asp

Happy Belated Birthday

December 28th was comic book great Stan Lee's 87th birthday. The creator of such greats as The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, The X-Men and many other Marvel comics that are wildly successful today Stan had a hand in in one way or another.

Rumor's a Flyin'

Dan Didio has been making the rumor mill spin with his latest interview on Newsarama that seems to imply that that 1980's icon, the Justice League International is going to be coming back in 2010. This Link at Newsarama seems to have most of the scuttlebutt down on what Didio has said and it seems that all signs are pointing to something happening down the road in 2010. I for one have just begun to find the greatness that was the 1980's & 90's Justice League and seem to find most people saying good things about it. Anything would be better than the current edition of the Justice League of America where they have gone through something on the order of six writers in the short time the book has been published. Granted DC decided to pull their best writer, Dwayne McDuffie, off the current incarnation of the Justice league after he made some comments about how he was being treated by DC Comics higher-ups on the internet. Will this new version of the Justice Leage International have some kind of fun spunk that the older version had? I don't know, but I would pick up the first six issues just to see what it is like if it is the old school JLI or not.
