I don't know how I've left AC Comics alone all these years, but I was going through Cover Browser the other day and realized there was a lot of material to work with, there. AC Comics began as Paragon Publications in 1969, and changed to Americomics in the 1982, before changing officially to AC Comics in 1984. From the start, the company specialized in comics in the style of the Golden Age.

As time went on, they focused on "Good Girl" style characters, in their Femforce title, but as a Superman fan, it was Captain Paragon, their Superman pastiche character that caught my attention.

I liked the name, the costume wasn't bad. The simple Red/White/Blue color scheme had a patriotic look, without the flag elements you usually see when flag colors are used.

Later, they stripped away the cape and tried to work a P chest emblem into his costume. While I liked the chevrons as design elements, the angular stylized P just doesn't work for me.

My reading of AC Comics has been spotty, over the years, so I hadn't realized that Captain Paragon was married to AC's Wonder Woman, Ms. Victory. That gave me the idea to work them both into the same column.

Her first costume has a classic 40s or 50s look that I like. And her last costume, really has nothing about it that I like. The middle one, however, has a classic look that doesn't date itself.

I did more work on Captain Paragon's costume, than on Ms. victory's, but I did try to make her's a little more workable, by raising the plunging neckline a foot or so. For Paragon, I worked the chevron motif into it and changed the cape and mask colors a bit. I like white capes, and I thought a red-lined white cape looked good with this design. I also like the idea of husband and wife wearing similar colors.

I plan to look through more AC Comics titles for characters I can work on. Nightveil should be fun.
