American Hustle
Movie Review by Sheryl Roberts

No, it's not the usual fare that I spend money on. However, the 1970's setting and the great trailers and reviews pulled me in. I am glad that I went. It's loosely based on the 1970's debacle "Abscam," but I suspect it's much more dramatic and clever. The acting is superb, and in my opinion Jennifer Lawrence steals the show. She is comedic relief and I was wishing there was more of her in the movie. Without really revealing things, the movie is about a con game, on many different levels and with shifting alliances. It's really amusing and it takes some unexpected turns. Having lived through the 1970's as a young adult including spending some time in New York City, I can tell you that the premise, the "everything's possible" tone, the setting and the costuming is right on and far out. Go see it if you haven't already. It's a fun film.
