Well this is the first of hopefully a long running column. This is
for the several Justice League titles: JLA, JLA Year one, The Titans,
and Young Justice. I will not be going into individual characters
comics because there would be way too many. Anyway heres a rundown of
the titles:
JLA - This is the main title it features the Big guns of the DCU.
Included in its ranks are Superman,Batman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman,
The Flash(Wally West), Green Lantern(Kyle Rayner), and Martian
Manhunter as the core seven members. Huntress, Zurial, Steel, Plastic
Man, Orion, Big Barda, and Oracle are the secondary.
JLA: Year One - This title shows the beginnings of the JLA staged
ten years in the past. It shows the teams founding members trying
to function as a team. Green Lantern(Hal Jordan), the Flash(Barry Alan),
Aquaman, Black Canary, and Martian Manhunter.
Titans - Teen Titans will be revamped this year in issue #25.
Dropping the "Teen" and going to more recognizable characters,
the original five that founded the team. The original sidekicks:
Nightwing (former Robin), The Flash [Former Kid Flash(YES
he will be in both JLA and Titans)], Tempest(Former Aqulad),
Arsenal(Former Speedy), and Donna Troy (Former Wonder Girl)
Young Justice - this title has a lot of fan buzz after the "World
Without Grown-ups" ark, when every one over the age of 20 disappears
and the young heroes of the DCU have to find out what happened. After all
this they will form a team. As of now I have not heard a set roster but
Superboy, Robin, and Impulse are for sure.
OK the first topic of this column will be on the JLA roster. Now,
the Big seven need to stay no matter what. It seems they get the Big
guns every so often then the title drifts back into secondary
characters. THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN WITH THE CURRENT JLA! Now having said
that, I will give my views on these new JLAers
I like Plastic Man and Oracle. Plastic Man does have name recognition
and is a very funny character. Oracle is the former Batgirl, and what
team doesnt need a net rat. So they, I think, deserve their places.
Zurial is a very interesting character and I believe can work.
I dont think the team needs Huntress when it has Batman. What about
the New Gods Orion and Big Barda well? they must be a important part of a
future ark (most likely DC One Million slated for later this year) but
after this ark they should be dumped. You dont need Barda, and Captain
Marvel deserves a spot a LOT more than Orion. Steel I dont know, we will
see if he can work within the team. I think Green Arrow and Black Canary
should get into the JLA. However, this is all just my opinion. Still. the
JLA is the best in years! Let's all hope it stays that way.
