Once again, hello fellow gamers. This has truly been an interesting time for the gaming industry, with new approaches in gaming and the disappearance of old friends.

First, I must bid a fond farewell to Daedelus Entertainment, producers of the card game Shadowfist. Due to bad planning and a natural disaster, these folks are no more, but hope for the continuation of Shadowfist is around the corner. We just have to get WOTC’s attention first.

Speaking of WOTC, and their group of companies, MTG: Exodus seems to be well received, and the tension for Urza’s Saga is high. MTG: Unglued is due soon, and provides a "beer and pretzels" feel to Magic again. On the Five Rings Publishing front, Rage is back on the shelves with a new story and new mode of play, as well as Legend of the Burning Sands, an Arabian tale set in the world of L5R. Look for an RPG based on it soon.

On the TSR front, Greyhawk is back, with a vengeance. New heroes, old enemies, the deities we love and hate, all back in a cool new format. More Forgotten Realms is out, too, and please check out Alternity. I was at first skeptical of any space-opera game replacing Traveller, but it delivers well. For a change of pace, check it out. The Stardrive campaign is well worth the entrance fee.

On to the miniatures. Games Workshop has once again gone into full swing on new stuff, and also should be applauded for the re-release of Bloodbowl. Yes, fantasy football is back, with all of the minis we know and love. The new chaos and elven bits for fantasy are also looking cool, and the rumor mill is running rampant for 40k 3rd Edition. At this time, little is known, but much is suspected. All that this correspondent can say is that the new plans for 40k are SWEET!

Heartbreaker and Target Games have gone into overtime on Warzone and Chronopia, with new minis and books hitting the shelves every month. The Sons of Kronos and a slew of new Imperial troops spring to mind.

Silent Death is running steady, with the Yoko-shan book due soon, and the minis even sooner. That is one blessing about ICE, they get the minis to you in a reasonable amount of time. Next on the horizon, the Q’raj Void Protectorate. (is that a cool name, or what?)

Now let us discuss the near future of gaming, namely what to expect in a few months. Clan War, from the makers of Five Rings, is due in stores this month. A military war game based on the L5R card game, it proves to be a massive hit. Having watched it in playtest form, I cannot wait for the final product.

Blatant Plug time: Games Nation, Inc. will not only be carrying the complete line of Clan War, but will also receive limited quantities of the promo mini packs. Contact us for more info.

Babylon 5 Wars is picking up in Houston (or at least Clear Lake), and new minis for the Narn, Centauri, Vree and Drazi are on the horizon, and a new expansion for the B5 card game is due soon, too. Look for The Great War in a few months.

Something big is stirring for Deadlands. The obvious is the conclusion of the Devil’s Tower series, but a new monster called Hell on Earth is coming to the stores in August. Watch for it.

Vampire players and impersonators rejoice: V3 is coming. Yes, the 3rd edition of Vampire: The Masquerade is due in October, and the ltd. Edition will be out then too. Yes, be a part of the beginning of the end of the Camarilla. Start saving for your copy today.

For the anime fans on the net, here’s a brief of the next few months ahead: Evangelion movies, more DBZ, but sorry, no sub series. Vision of Escaflowne is due soon, as is My Dear Marie. El Hazard vol. 2 is coming, and Bastard!!, the AD&D-like anime is on the horizon.

Blatant Plug #2: Looking for players of L5R, or can’t find the cards? Check out Games Nation, Inc. We keep a large supply of L5R on hand, and as a Stronghold of the Empire, we cater to the desires of clan players. And remember we have access to tens of thousands of game and game-related items.
