The Mask of Zorro!

This movie reminded me of the first Avengers story by Kurt Busiek. It was very a typical Hollywood movie, but entertaining nonetheless. The good guys were heroes, the bad men were very evil. Zorro is the same swashbuckling hero we expect him to be, but he is deeper than a smiling man with a mask and sword. He has both hatred and compassion within him.

Anthony Hopkins does a great job in this film. He blended in with the film nicely, doing his role, but not taking any spotlight away from the other actors/actresses. The film has a great blend of humor and seriousness. There are flaws in the movie though, I could probably point out a dozen different things that should have been improved or done differently.

If I had to compare this movie with another one, I'd place this movie a notch or two below Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves for entertainment value. The movie is really worth seeing if you’re a comic reader, it's the best hero movie done in the last few years.
