[aka : No, I didn't go see a new movie this month]
September was a banner month for new video releases. Among the hits released to tape were Three Ninjas : Adventure at High Noon Mountain, Casper Meets Wendy, Pauly, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Oh wait. I'm forgetting something.. Yes. Titanic, and Lady and the Tramp.
Personally, if I were the person who wrote Lady and the Tramp, I would sue James Cameron for copyright infringment. There are so many similarities between the movies it's a bit frightening. First, is it just me, or does the Tramp look exactly like Leonardo DiCaprio? The same rougish good looks and poor boy appeal of Jack, not to mention the EXACT SAME hairstyle. Hmm..
Anyway, a small composition of similarities is in order. Enjoy.
The scene where Lady is first introduced [as a puppy] .. the box she is in reminds me of the dress that young Rose wears in her first scene. She comes out of it, just like Rose came out of the car. [I guess it would have been hard to make a story about a dog who never got let out of the gift box]
Lady's owners give her a shiney nametag and collar. Rose's fiance [who thinks he owns her] gives her the big necklace thing. They're both shiney.
When Lady runs away, there is a big "running through the town" scene .. kinda like when Rose runs across the deck of the boat to get away from her family.
the Tramp saves Lady from a gang of bigger, meaner dogs. Jack [also a tramp] saves Rose from falling off the ship.
the Tramp takes Lady all around town, showing her a life beyond her previous sheltered one, and teaches her how to chase chickens. Jack takes Rose to meet the third class people and teaches her how to dance.
the Tramp and Lady share a spaghetti noodle and "dog kiss". Jack and Rose have a steamy boot knockin' session.
Lady doesn't want to see the Tramp anymore because she feels he lied to her. Rose doesn't want to see Jack anymore because.. Geez people I only saw the movie once! I'm sure it was something similar though.
the Tramp saves Lady's owners' baby from the rat. Jack saves Rose from the rat [her fiancee].
the Tramp dies, freezing to death in the cold ocean water. Jack and Rose get married and have lots of puppies.
