Well, welcome to yet another installment of Judgment Calls. I just want to say, this is JLA oriented but, think about it (except the Vertigo DC), there are very few titles not somehow related to the JLA, so I write about the DCU at large. We have a lot to discuss this month.

First, I would like to give a fond farewell to JLA: Year One. This 12 issue maxi-series has drawn to a conclusion. This book told of the first year of the League and how it’s founding members learned to function as a team. This book had a real silver age look and feel. If you are a silver age fan I strongly suggest getting it out of the back issues bin. If you haven’t been reading it, I hope you’ll be able to find them: they will probably be hard to find.

Next, we have the Secret Origins 80-Page Giant. Don’t ask me why, buts it’s devoted to Young Justice. I mean, it has it’s own Secret Files coming out next month but I’m not complaining. Anyway, it’s the one stop shop for the main teen age heroes (Robin, Superboy, Impulse, Arrowette, Wondergirl, Spoiler, and the Secret) told in their own words. The short stories are framed by Red Tornado telling Secret about the other kids. Apparently, it’s a prelude to YJ#4 and YJ Secret files. Anyway, it’s a nice book if you’re into the teen heroes of the DCU, want to know more about them, or like YJ. If not, you really don’t have a reason to.

DC is putting out four 3D titles this month. No, you read right, 3D. I must say that it seems high quality 3D, too. Of course, I must admit being of the generation-x . I haven’t seen a lot, but it looks good compared to what I have seen. It’s in the traditional red/blue glasses style, and each issue comes with two (count em 1, 2) 3D glasses in each comic (for those of you non-collectors). I looked through my basement for a half an hour till I found an old pair of 3D glasses. I couldn’t bring myself to tearing them out of the comic. Anyway, I said four titles and here they are:
I have only read the GL 3D but the others are 3Ded by the same guys at Ray Zone, so they probably look great, too. I just hope you will be able to find an old pair so you don’t have to actually tear something out of a comic.

Lets see what else is out this month... OH duh! How could I forget JLA/Titans #1? Well, it had to happen, right? Titans planning on going back to it’s original 5 and JLA being the dream team. JLA/Titans seems to be a prelude to the Titans revamp. It seems some mysterious force is capturing all (and I do mean all) of the Titans, past, present, and future. This deals with how the Titans are a family, not just a team, and the JLA is a team and just a team and how they approach things differently.

I believe that's it for the specials. Other then that, It’s just the regular stuff. OK, my profiles are a work in progress. I didn’t like last month’s, so it’s completely different and I don’t know how it’s gonna be next month. Well, on to Batman.

Who is Batman? Bruce Wayne saw his rich parents gunned down in front of his eyes as a small boy. After his parents’ deaths, he was raised by the butler Alfred. He vowed to get vengeance on criminals, and to this end he trained himself to be at the peak of human condition, both physically and mentally. Taking the mantle of the bat, he struck out to fight crime. Making friends with police commissioner Gordon, Gordon allows Batman to operate in Gotham.

Batman in JLA. Batman is the thinker. He’d rather not be on the team but recognizes his need to be on it. Batman is the peak of human condition, he doesn’t have powers but still could take down anyone on the team.
