Games Nation

Well folks, the year has begun with a blast, and we at Games Nation are ready for the products of the new year. As many of you are by now aware, Games Workshop has released the new edition of 40K, and the model releases for it are staggering. The newest releases for the Dark Eldar are a horde of infantry and for the Marines, the new Baal Predator.

Crimson Skies is the sleeper hit of this quarter. With fast gameplay, good, well tested damage templates, and a fantastic background, this set should keep selling well into the 2nd quarter. Also on the FASA front, Shadowrun 3rd is doing well, and the new books for it are actually scheduled for a near future release.

Old is IN! Here at Games Nation, we have uncovered a stash of old card games, notably Guardians and Shadowfist, and so if you are a fan of these classic games, we have almost all of the expansions for each in stock, at prices well below regular retail. Also, we are running monthly tournemants for these games, please call the store for more info on this.

White Wolf looks to have a promising February, with the player guides to the Camarilla and the Sabbat due to hit the shelves soon. Also, is anyone actually playing Trinity: Battleground? The minis are nice, but we have little feedback worth montioning for anaylsis of this game.

Wizards of the Coast is hitting the shelves hard in February, with Urza's Legacy, Pokemon, Long Journey Home, and a small set of lesser releases working along the way. Urza's Legacy should prove to be hot, with special foil cards inserted randomly into the booster boxes. This may have two effects: First, Legacy will be the hardest set to collect a full set, for there is a rare foil of each card, regardless of commonality. Secondly, it will either kill of jettison Magic to a new level. If the players are unwilling to work with the new foils, it may spell the end to this plan.

On HERO news, Champions will soon be back in all of its original glory. Appearently, the rules will be reprinted and a host of new sourcebooks released, so all of the old fans of the game should be watching the shelves.

ICE's Balrog hit, with good results. The set has immense playability, and the artwork, with the exception of four cards, exceeds all expectations. The nice feature about this set is the fact that the entire set is available in two decks. However, the news on the horizon may bode ill. ICE is changing the appearance of the game to make it easier for new players to join in, which is well and good. But rumor is that the new system will not be compatable with the old, which would be no good thing. More news as info pours in.

GWFLASH: Games Workshop is changing up their Imperial Guard. As this news has been nicely hidden from retailers, here is the dark on this: All Attilan Roughriders are out of production. The female commisar is also gone, and a small collection of the command figures are now missing. Although they deny it, the "limited edition, never to be released again" Praetorian Guard will be available soon, according to all rumors in England and in the U.S. It seems that their new catalog lists the minis as coming soon. Hey, at least the minis look fantastic! (Sidenote: At Games Nation, we are showcasing different types of minis every week, so drop on by on Saturday for the 25% off special on select lines of GW minis. Space Marines are coming soon...)

Pinnacle is still releasing a quality product, with the new material for Deadlands and Hell on Earth looking better and better with each release. Brainburners for HOE was fantastic, and people are slavering for the HOE minis. If you think that these are good, just wait for Outpost, the space station game for the Deadlands engine.

GWFLASH: Battlefleet Gothic, only 8 years late, will be coming to a store near you this year. This game is a space combat game set in the 40K universe, and should be seen in May or so. Long awaited, we already have a waiting list for the monster, with a hefty 25% off to boot!

Agents of Gaming have a new release date for the Babylon 5 wargame 2nd ed. In May, it will hit the shelves. Folks, I cannot say enough about this good game. Come on by and see for yourself! Whitestars coming soon!

Shade and Sweet Water.
