Welcome to another edition of Judgment Calls. I have no
idea what to write about, so here's an overview of the Justice
League titles: JLA, Titans, YJ, and I'll tell (what little I've
found) about the upcoming JSA series.
JLA
First the big, main title: JLA. Well, it's not like there's
been too much new stuff for news, some things for the end of
Morrison's run. After the whole war with the fifth dimension
(currently happening), there will be the big supervillain
jail riot Morrison's been ranting about for over a year.
Luthor will come back at the JLA with a new Injustice
Gang, this time backed by Prometheus, Queen Bee, and (the now
intelligent, and shaved) Shaggy man.
Then there will be the Mageddon story arc, the big climax
Grant's been hinting at his whole run on JLA. This arc is
apparently the reason Big Barda and Orion are on the team, so
maybe they will leave afterwards (YAY!). Also, this is the
apparent reason Heaven ordered Zauriel to stay on earth. Grant
keeps saying some JLAers will die during the Mageddon story.
Titans
I'm enjoying the current Titans series so far. Of course, it's
only 4 issues in. Though I haven't found a lot of news out there about
upcoming story lines (awwww no spoilers,) I can say there's going to
be a Changeling (Beast Boy) 4 issue mini coming. I've been reading
and considering. I haven't decided whether I really like it yet or not,
it's early in the series, give it time.
Young Justice
I love this book. Maybe just because the way these characters
interact is correctly portrayed, dispite what people think. The
stories are well thought out and have a lot of humor. This book is
worth picking up I really recommend it. Peter David rules. Oh, and
there is an up coming "Young Justice in No Man's Land" one-shot
written by Chuck Dixon.
JSA
I'm sure you've all seen the classic golden age titles around
the comic shop: Thrilling Comics, All Star Comics, All American Comics,
Smash Comics etc... Well, there's a new ongoing series in the works.
Not like it's hard to see it coming, the classic titles stories, the
guest appearance in JLA # 28-31. The creative team will be as follows: it
will be written by Robinson and Goyer, and art by Sadowski and Bair.
There will be a Secret Files in early June, followed by the first issue in
late June.
