Seasons greetings, everyone! As you're reading this, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Christmas is right around the corner. Or Chanukah, or Solstice, depending on your religious leanings. We also got the new year almost upon us, the last year of the millennium.
All in all, a time to reflect on the past, and keep up some hope for the future. A great excuse to pointlessly ramble for a bit through an illness-addled haze. Ah, the holidays...
So, what am I thankful for this year? I'm thankful that everything in my life seems to be going good, for a change. Had a hell of a start to 1999, but its gotten tons better. I've moved, met some new friends, and left some old annoyances behind.
I'm thankful that the main X-Books are readable again, with some excellent artwork, and thought-out plots.
I'm thankful that Rob Liefeld is off of Cable, and hopefully away from Marvel. When will they learn?
I'm thankful to see Chris Claremont and Warren Ellis returning to the collective X-Office to usher in a new era next year, and continue the current greatness.
I'm thankful that the two Legion comics from DC are readable again as well, with some promising art, and engaging stories.
And finally, I'm thankful the debilitating cold I brought back from my Thanksgiving journey has lifted to allow me to cobble this together in time for it to be printed. I'm also thankful that Sheryl gave me a forum to basically ramble on about whatever.
Not really much that I'm hoping for that I didn't mention in my thanks, but I do hope that the quality in all the comics I'm reading, from the X-Books, to the Legion titles, to Ellis books, all continue their level of quality, with a few going even higher.
I also hope that the final issue of X-Men: True Friends comes out soon. I've been planning on that for a few months now, and have been having to come up with things to ramble on about, while it gets more and more delayed. I should've reviewed it back in September, if I remember correctly.
Finally, I hope y'all keep reading, both my own column, and anything that you come across. Reading can be your friend! Especially if you've become addicted in the chemicals in Warren Ellis comics.
Well, I hope everyone has had jolly holidays, and I'll catch y'all next month!
