Welcome to another month of my nonsensical rants that for some unknown reason my editor finds worthy of posting, otherwise known as Judgment Calls. I have no clue what to write about, but if I don't get started I'll never finish...
OK, lets get into the JLA, nothing really big going on that I haven't already reported on. Morrison can't keep a secret and Waid isn't telling anything, so I reported what's going on for the next couple of months last year and after that, I don't know, it's really kinda stupid. Anyway ONE MORE TIME... A freaky, evil weapon is coming at Earth causing the planet to go to war, Luthor's new Injustice Gang is ripping the JLA apart, a JLA member will die, and then Morrison's leaving.
Also, there's going to be a spiffy JLA hardcover in the near future, based on the pre-crisis "Earth-3" stories. Back in the day, when the multiple Earth thing DC developed was big, they created an alternate Earth with evil versions of the then JLA. After the Crisis on Infinite Earths, they destroyed that world and all memory of it. Then what are we doing hearing from it again, HUH?
Well, Morrison, in grand finale style, will tell that tale. Paying only some attention to what came before (because in current continuity it doesn't exist,) Alex Luthor (That Earth's only good guy) discovers an alternate world parallel, yet opposite, to his, which would be the regular DCU. As his world is overrun by superpowered criminals, run by the Crime Syndicate, he hopes to stop them by enlisting their good counterparts of the DCU's Earth, the JLA. Superman to stop Ultraman, Batman to stop Owlman, Wonder Woman to stop Superwoman, Green Lantern to stop Power Ring, Flash to stop Jonny Quick, and so on and so on. Pick up this spifferific hardcover for $24.95 Dec. 8th.
In Titans, we are damn near the one year mark for them, and by the way, it's finally getting interesting. We finally got the pecking order and the characters established, finally getting some answers, finally tying up lose ends, finally Deathstroke (bought damn time) and finally a serious kick ass 3-parter. What a way to end the first year. I was starting to lose interest, I don't really want to give away too much, but it is a very fine story. Go pick it up.
Moving on to JSA, this month they "publicly" announced the reformation of the team, we also saw a whacked fight with Black Adam. Black Adam is like a evil Captain Marvel, as in he also uses the power of Shazam, but is, you know, crazy. While Hourman, Dr. Fate, and Hawkgirl travel to the past, the rest of the JSA get soundly thrashed by Black Adam, till it's up Black Canary to hold off this dude as powerful as Cap, and Supes. That's nuts, she does a good job of it, too. Holds him long enough for Hourman's and Fate's plan to work. Good story, except we see no explanation as to what happens to Hawkgirl after getting shocked by Shazam's lightning. I mean, I think something would happen but no, nothing. I'm thoroughly enjoying this title thus far.
Anyway, I gotta get this in NOW or I face the wrath of the bullwhip. Come back next month for more ramblings.
