Welcome to another installment of *bum-bum-bum* Judgment Calls. Guess what?
This month I actually have the time, resources, and inclination, to babble about
something!
For my first rant I'm going to be general; a vague rant about something in
the DCU recently, opposite numbers. I mean, look within the past few months The JLA,
The JSA, The Titans, and Young Justice have tangled with The Injustice Gang, The
Injustice Society, Tartarus, and The Point Men, respectively. Each of these
villainous teams put together with the intensive purpose of destroying the superhero teams they
were sent against, put together to counter their opponents perfectly. Now opposite
numbers aren't new, in fact they have always been a staple, something most good heroes
have, Spiderman/Venom, Green Lantern(Hal Jordan)/Sinestro and so forth, it's always a lot of
fun to watch evil versions of heroes to throw down and go at it, but the strange fact is
that all of them happen to be hitting right now, at the same time, I just find that fact a
little on the odd side.
I haven't even mentioned the Earth 2 story with the Crime Syndicate. I
wonder if they even realized if these anti-teams were all going to hit at the same time.
For my next point I'm going to babble about the Sins of Youth ,um thing, a
large series of one shots connecting to a Young Justice two parter. In this
story, after Young Justice gets prejudged in the media about some things, they try and get
a rally for superheroes in Washington D.C.. whatever can go wrong does, and the
adult heroes are turned into teens, the older heroes into little kids, and the teens into
adults. Oh yeah, this will be fun. There are 12 issues in the Sins of Youth `event', Young
Justice: Sins of Youth #1, Superboy #74, Young Justice: Sins of Youth Secret Files #1, Sins of
Youth: JLA Jr. #1 , Sins of Youth: Aquaboy/Lagoon Man #1, Sins of Youth: Batboy/ Robin #1,
Sins of Youth: Kid Flash/Impulse #1, Sins of Youth: Starwoman & The JSA #1, Sins of
Youth: Superboy Sr./ Superman Jr. #1, Sins of Youth: Wonder Girls #1, Sins of
Youth: Secret/Deadboy #1, and Young Justice: Sins of Youth #2. Unfortunately, I was
unable to find 3 of these issues, the ones that I was able to obtain I enjoyed. I
suspect I would have enjoyed the others. This series offers a lot of insight, and the JSA issue
has a lot to do with Dobby Dickles and his former planet, it's very entertaining, I suggest you
go pick it up.
That's about all I got to say...
