Juan Navarro's Indie Comic Reviews

My Dirty Hands #3 (Free)

The first thing I notice that I love about this is that the classic slap and paste zine technique is used so well and entertaining and doesn't clutter up the pages, transferring good with the Xeroxing, very visually pleasing. Holy cow the writing is good! Ach! Something you don't see much in most moron poetry, which is so full of angst, you want to vomit. Oh this has Angst, but you know... some drops of intelligence that make it sit way better.

Poems, like the opening one, are haunting and wonderful: Would we even notice if half the world of people were clones? Conformity is like a sickness, an airborne virus, smothering in the glow of the Big Cat Capitalists cigar, I wonder if when I die, will they stuff me in a pink box? Stamped with a serial number, Barcoded existence..."

Wow. Great. This from a high school student? Damn! I if you like a solid zine with good poetry and great images, this is it.

Fatguys

This comic is rude, crude mean and overall horrible to people! I LOVE IT!

The first has page has the Fatguys making fun of "mentally challenged" kids at a bus stop....ha! The book goes on with many a hi-jinx mixed Tourettes Syndrome Sensibilities.

One thing creeps me out: Page 5, the Fat Guy whose having the heart attack, look a lot, and I mean a lot, like me! Eeerie....(And I smoke too)

The one thing I can complain about: Not enough! I know it's a bitch to get a comic out, but man, am I waiting for the next one.
