The Spiff-O-Meter

8 of 10 on the Spiff-O-Meter

Beautiful cinematography, gorgeous fight choreography, what more could you want from an eye candy movie? The plot is pretty solid too. What I really liked was the fact that the peasants actually looked dirty. I’m so sick of seeing period pieces with pristine, clean peasants. They were DIRTY! They took a bath maybe once a year! Come on people! The nobles weren’t all that much more clean.

The costuming was great. I think Zack (Roman, of Consoletations) was about to kill me for identifying half of the fabrics in the movie. I’m sorry . . . work in a fabric store long enough you notice these things. Overall the acting was good; I still dislike Mena Suvari as a sex symbol. She looks like she’s thirteen. *shakes head*

But like I said, good movie. You all should go see it. It’s a nice, pretty piece of escapism. If you like Mena Suvari, you’ll like it.
