There are few things in this world that scare me. One of them is the d20
system. Shortly after I submitted my article, I actually found out that
Star Wars has been converted to the dark si-errr . . . the d20 ruleset. This
overjoyed me. Someone actually does read my column!
On the subject of scaring me, I still have control of the book review
section. Hop on over there and read my pan of the latest
George R R Martin book (as if). That book has everything from the mountain that
moves, to someone that drank lamp oil because he thought it would turn
him into a dragon. Ok, maybe those arent the best examples. Of course,
if youre reading this, who knows what your tastes are.
Speaking of dragons, Neverwinter Nights is out. Id like to say that I was
playing it rather than working on my column this month, but I do not
have that excuse. It looks to be almost as good as they say it is. And
you know how they are sometimes. In any case, I hope to review it
before anyone else here does. I also hope to put to rest the rumors that
dragons cant fly. They just need to start from a higher altitude.
Thinking back, nothing really interesting has happened to me this month.
This is a first. At least some sort of major crisis usually comes up, and
I can gear a whole column towards it. Im going to need to start making
stuff up soon.
Oddly enough, as it were, something interesting happened here. My
wifes cat had been plotting behind our backs. Behind that cute, fuzzy
face is a vicious monster. Either that, or my d20 rants have been getting
to him. He located my cache of D&D3E books and, well . . . it wasnt
pretty. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed off, and they were pretty
pissed on. Im not sure how Im going to recover them without buying
new ones, but at least itll give me a chance to break from GMing for a
bit. Now were playing Rolemaster, which I barely know enough to play,
let alone GM.
I dont know how this happened, because I used to not care much for
them, but I find myself reading a ton of online comics nowadays. Ive
mentioned Sluggy repeatedly, as well as Megatokyo. Those are two of
my favorites. However, sometime when you get a chance to, pop on
over to www.ucomics.com and choose Tom
the Dancing Bug. It is very rare indeed that a cartoonist can make me
say "ouch" because of their scathing wit. Hes done it almost every
time. Be forewarned, though, he only posts a new comic every Saturday.
Read the archives, theyre well worth it.
