Chronicle Books has started publishing some very nifty Sandman stuff. These would make the perfect gift for anyone who’s a fan of Sandman and a fan of writing. Heck, you could even make it a gift for yourself. They have two 128 page lined writing journals. They have nice sturdy covers and the good o-wire spiral rings. Unlike those awful spirals you had to use in elementary school, the wire on these rings is hard to warp, and doesn’t snag on everything in your bag. Additionally, they stay extra flat when you’re trying to write on them. They have two different journals. One journal features Death, and the other journal features Dream. Both journals have beautiful cover art, and a cool Sandman quote from the character on the inside flap of the cover. Every two page spread of the journal has one picture of Dream or Death in the corner of one of the pages. The Death journal’s cover art is drawn by Chris Bachalo, and the inside art is by Chris Bachalo and Brian Bolland. Dream’s journal’s cover art is by Yoshitaka Amano, and the inside art is by P. Craig Russell, Shawn McManus, John Watkiss, Charles Vess, and Mike Dringenberg. Both are truly beautiful. There is some truly beautiful art in this collection. It has art from Chris Bachalo, Dave McKean, Jon J. Murth, and Yoshitaka Amano to name a few.
