Here's the latest for November. As always suggestions, comments and
questions can be e-mailed to me at the address above.
First up this month, is news that Playmates has decided to stop doing
their Simpsons Celebrity Series of figures starting with number 3. It was
supposed to contain Hank Scorpio, Llewellyn Sinclair and Cooder.
Instead Hank Scorpio will be offered with Series 10 of regular Simpsons figures
and Llewellyn Sinclair and Cooder will be offered through the web site
http://www.simpsonscollectors.com. Starting in 2003, there will be one
celebrity figure with each series of regular figures. In the future there
will be Larry Burns, Number 1, Dr. Stephen Hawking and Mrs. Botz.
IF Labs has a new line of Dragon Ball Z toys coming out this winter. Look
for well sculpted versions of Gotenks (a combo of the kids Goten and
Trunks), Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Vegitto (a combo of Goku and Vegeta) and
Evil Buu.
Just in time for Christmas, look for new Masters of the Universe figures
by Mattel. Look for Smash Plate He-Man and Spin Blade Skeletor each with
launching weapons. There will also be normal versions of good guys like
Teela and Orko and baddies such as Tri-Klops and Trap-Jaw. There will
also be Samurai themed versions of He-Man, Skeletor and Man-at-Arms as
well as Samurai Battle Cat and a Raptor for Skeletor.
For those of you that have always wondered why no one has come out
with Superfriends figures in the nearly 30 years that they have been on the
air; then wonder no more. In the Spring of 2003 DC Direct is putting out
Superfriends figures. The first set will consist of Superman, Wonder
Woman, Lex Luthor and Cheetah. Hopefully they will hold off on the
Wonder Twins for a few years.
JoyRide Studios has come up with another wave of figures for their
Gamepro Presents line. From the snowboarding game SSX Tricky there will be hot
dogger Moby and the Psychotic Psymon. From the brand new fighting
game Virtua Fighter 4 there will be Jacky and Sarah Bryant. Look for these this
month.
Also JoyRide Studios is doing a a line called Nintendo Power
Presents. These will be figures based on Nintendo games from the past
and the present. In this line, look for a Link and Link with Epona from Ocarina
of Time, Luigi from Luigi's Mansion and Samus Aran from Metroid. Look
for these this month.
Coming this month (although I think some stores have jumped the gun)
are figures from the next Lord of the Rings Movie, The Two Towers. Other
than those that I mentioned last month, look for Aragorn with his horse Brego
and Sauron. There will also three two packs: one of an Elven Archer and
an Uruk-Hai, Merry and Grishnakh and Pippen and Ugluk.
That's all for this month.
