Air Space is a light-hearted, borderline vapid comic aimed at children. The art is rather charming, and the panel flow looks rather inventive; however the numerous splash pages are a tad annoying and over the top. A lot of the pages have huge panels and it makes it seem kind of amateurish. The art is a mild manga form, and while it fits the story, I’m not all that hot on it.

When I read the blurb of what happened in the first paragraph I thought "Wow this sounds pretty cool," but as I read further the book just kept going downhill. This issue is a poor sci-fi revamp of The Wizard of Oz. I adore The Wizard of Oz. When the Tin Man character appeared on the page I was amused, but as it went along it wasn’t loyal enough or original enough to be anything more than mediocre.

The characters aren’t developed enough due to the fact the Dos Santos is trying to blend them to the Wizard of Oz character mold. The characters come off as shallow and snippy. I appreciate trying to gear comics to both children and adults, but this book fails to hit the crucial combination that makes it enjoyable for someone over the age of twelve. It’s kind of cute, but I wasn’t all that impressed with the book as a whole. If you want a light fluffy book, you might want to go to http://www.airspacecomics.com/ and take a look at Air Space.
