The Story so far is a nice issue that totally recaps what’s happened in the story so far. It’s a very useful issue. I missed one or two issues recently and it brought me totally up to speed. It’s something one rarely sees in comicbooks, but it is probably a good idea. I was at a comicbook discussion panel Wednesday and one of the complaints some people voiced about comicbooks was that you couldn’t just pick up a random issue and completely understand what’s going on. This looks like a good idea that should maybe be picked up by the big shot comic publishers. If you haven’t read the books so far you should pick up the recap issue at least to see if it is something you’d be interested in.

Black Tide 4b (What’s with the funky numbering system?) picks up where the recap finishes. Theros, prince of Atlantis, and Justin, aka Vilianous in a previous lifetime, were fighting over how Theros was treating the ex-slave Draconians. Kaila, Villianous’ ex-lover, and the center of Theros’ attentions, has fled the scene after Justin proclaimed he wanted neither her nor Theros’ kingdom. Justin and Theros fight and argue and eventually Justin leaves. Theros realizes that Justin is right and vows to fix it as long as no one tells Justin. Theros is a prideful little booger.

While Kaila is running away she runs into a friend of hers who specializes in spy equipment. He tells Kaila who’s behind attacks and bombings that have been killing many people. He also tells Kaila that Theros and his mother, the queen of Atlantis, have used her horribly. Kaila is heart broken. She retreats to her house alone. There she is met by a god-like man who tells her she must be strong because she is at a crossroads and what she decides could cost many lives. The end is a nasty little cliffhanger, which I can’t wait to see the conclusion of.

Black Tide just keeps getting better. I greatly dislike the cover art on Black Tide 4b, but the inside art is the same beautiful quality that I’ve come to expect from Mike Miller. The cover art has that animated Superman, Batman cartoony look to it that I just don’t like. If I were to have never read it and I just saw the cover I wouldn’t pick it but, but that would be a big mistake. Despite the ugly cover this month, it really is a great series and I recommend that all of you got and check it out.
