Console-tations by Zack Roman

    The Legend of Zelda
    The Wind Walker
    For Gamecube

Ok, this is like Spaceballs. We’re gonna do the short, short version, cause I don’t feel well.

Plot. Its Zelda, of course, which sums it all up. This one takes place many hundred years latter after the one for N64. The whole earth has been covered in water, and only little islands (formerly known as mountain-tops) are left. In short, your sister gets kidnapped (this happens after like 20 minutes of play) and you go to go rescue her. In rescuing her, you get more powerful, and learn the Gannon is free again, and only you are really in a position to stop him. From there on, it’s typical Zelda, with dungeons and quests and p4at l00t, etc.

Graphics. The game is cell shaded, and while its older technology, I’ve never seen it used to this extent. In short, its 3d graphics like from the last time, but instead of the normal 3d textures, the thing is cell-shaded, which basically makes it look like the whole thing is animated. It’s very odd. It’s still easy to move around, and its 3d, but it really seems as if the whole thing has been drawn like a 2D cartoon. The bottom line is that they get points for doing something different, and cool (its kinda nice not seeing #D textures in a 3D environment), but on the other hand, I’ve seen prettier graphics. The characters just aren’t as visually pleasing to look at as they are in a lot of other 3D games.

Sound. No talking, all text talking, with some sound effects (laughter, grunting, yelling, etc). The music is cool at first, but gets kinda old, and the original Zelda theme song I’ve only heard in the beginning (haven’t beaten the game yet). The actual sound effects are fine though.

Gameplay. It’s Zelda. If you don’t know what Zelda is like I shun you now, for you are not a true gamer. Its full of puzzles and combat and stuff . . . you know . . . It’s actually fairly similar in play to the one for N64.

Difficulty. Not too hard, though some of the puzzles are doozies. Standard Zelda. Every now and then its necessary to cheat and look up how to get past something. And it’s got good longevity for an RPG (yes, Zelda is an RPG, its just real-time and requires some small degree of reflexes, unlike other RPGs). SO far I’ve gotten probably 20-25 hours of play and haven’t beaten it yet, and end no where in sight. Currently trying to collect the Triforce pieces

Replay. No clue. Its Zelda though, does it matter? Certainly none less than any other RPG. I think it *might* have a Second Quest, but I really don’t know, so don’t quote me.

Spiffiness. Its Zelda!

Overall. If you like Zelda, its definitely worth buying. If you already have it, good job. If you don’t, I shun you now. (Unless you don’t own a gamecube. I wouldn’t have one except it was at a price I couldn’t refuse)
