Paul and I went out on a hot date recently and saw I, Robot. I was very impressed. Not only did we have a nice nod to Isacc Asimov's work, but we also had a nice homage to Jack Williamson's Humanoids. Paul and I felt that he should have gotten a note in the credits, too.
It was terribly refreshing to see a Hollywood movie that actually had a nice linear story with no dangling plot threads. What they had was adventure, suspense, action, and plot, and it all worked. Nothing was thrown in because it was "cool." We didn't have a romance thrown in for "sex appeal," instead we had attractive actors portraying some sexual tension while doing interesting things.
Great movie, plus it didn't hurt this old bag a bit that we had a nice, gratuitous shower scene featuring Will Smith in the buff, who obviously has kept working out since his role as Ali. That was a nice addition to the movie, but it certainly wasn't the main draw of the movie.
I'll have to own this one when it comes out on DVD.
