Forsaken #1

Review By Sidra Roberts

Forsaken #1
Publisher: Image Comics
Writer: Carmen Treffiletti
Penciler and Colorer: Kristian Donaldson
Inker: Nick Zagami

When I was at Wizard World Dallas, Forsaken was the booth next to Joe Singleton's in Artist Alley. I kept looking at their comic and thinking, "Boy that looks cool," and I was right. It's an awesome comic that starts off in media res and then flashes back to the earlier chain of events that let up to the defeat at the beginning.

The most impressive thing about this comic is the art and color. The whole beginning is in grayscale, and the whole flashback is in vivid color. The characters are well designed and flashy looking. It's just a very pretty comic with an interesting looking plot.

My only problem is that I don't believe it gets far enough into the main plot in the first issue. It gives you enough to be interesting, but not really enough of a cliffhanger ending to hook you.

I do see great potential in it though, and it is utterly beautiful. You should definitely go check out the previews for it on the Image Comics Site http://www.imagecomics.com or take a peek at it in your local comic store.
