First out of the gate this month is Toy Biz with their continuation of the Spider-Man series. Coming in April is the 17th release in the series. Along with the numerous versions of Spider-Man, look for the likes of an old school Hobgoblin done Marvel Legends Style, and a Hydro-Man with an interchangeable lower half.
May brings up a brand new Fantastic Four line also by Toy Biz. These figures are based on the Ultimate Fantastic Four which I still think is on newsstands. There are ultimate versions of based on the characters of Invisible Woman, Thing and Human Torch. I notice a lack of Mr. Fantastic, what's up with that Marvel; eh! There will actually be bad guys as well, Dragon Man and Kang.
Next up on the agenda is DC Direct which is coming out with a Superman Through the Ages box set in August. The box set will contain the four most popular Supermans since his inception back in the 1930's. Those four, for those of you that are curious, are First Appearance, John Byrne, Robot and Jim Lee versions of the man with an "S" on his chest.
April/May brings us more action figures based on the Family Guy cartoon. Look for Peter as Gary the No Trash Cougar, Brian as McGriffin the Crime fighting dog, Jim Kaplan, Asian Reporter Trisha Takanawa, GOD and the Greased up Deaf Guy.
June/July brings South Park toys by Mezco Toys. Look for versions of Stan and Kyle (with Ike) to round out the main cast that were left off from the first set. There will also be a figure of the only black kid in South Park, Token. Mr. Garrison will also be made with variations in the heads as well as having either Mr. Hat or Mr. Twig as an accessory. There will be a Mr. Hanky and Cartman as the Tooth Fairy rounding out the new series.
Diamond Select Toys has the market cornered on Star Trek the Next Generation figures. This time hey will have many variations of Picard and Deanna Troi. Look for Picard in old TNG Uniform, First Contact Picard, Picard in Jacket (from the 6th season, I believe), all Good Things Picard, and Locutus. There will also be two versions of Deanna Troi for your Betazoid wish fulfillment. There's Troi in her uniform and a Casual Duty Troi. Look for them this summer.
That's all for this month. Look for more next month and if you have any ideas on what I should do besides the same old boring toy news than by all means shoot off an E-Mail to my editor and she'll make sure that it I get.
