Random thoughts regarding X3

Review by Christopher Coleman

  • Ah, they got the Stan Lee cameo out the way early. That was him holding the hose as a neighbor of the Grey family. Chris Claremont was the guy with the lawn mower.

  • So, Xavier was able to walk when he first met Jean, eh? Those fanboy purists have their first nitpick.

  • I really thought the movie transported to the "Days of Future Past" story with the Danger Room sequence. Though the Sentinel's "head" looked a bit off, this was one of my favorite scenes of the movie.

  • Hey, Kelsey Grammer as the Beast! Uh, he's got all this blue fur, but no one else seems to be giving him a second look, or think it's unusual. Maybe it's because the humans he's with are used to seeing him. Yeah, that's it.

  • Complaints of too many mutants? Nay, I say; not enough mutants.

  • Ellen Page as Shadowcat: I thought she looked way too young, and didn't have that certain "toughness." She looks like she's 13 to me, but People magazine says she's 19. WTF? Conversely, Shawn (Iceman) Ashmore is 26 and looks 20 to me. Say wha'?

  • Juggernaut has an accent? And his headpiece didn't look quite right to me.

  • If Jubilee had a line in the film, I missed it.

  • That was Shohreh Aghdashloo as Dr. Kavita Rao. Great actress somewhat wasted here. She had a huge part in season 4 of "24."

  • Fanboys like me love when villains' real names are mentioned (like the scene when guards were walking by their "cell" doors) because we know who they really are, and what they can do.

  • Rebecca Romijn. *sighs/drools*

  • They complain Storm never has anything to do. Geez, look at Rogue and get back to me.

  • I loved the "fastball specials." Maybe could've been shot better, but still good.

  • I forgot how much Hugh Jackman LOOKS the part of Wolverine.

  • I loved the scenes that had Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan. I'd like to seem them do other movies together.

  • I had a problem with the "deaths." Yeah, even with the teaser after the credits, I still did.

  • I hated Jean/Dark Phoenix's pinkish/redish coat. What was that?

  • The film seemed to hit a wall for me about halfway in, and jumpstarted again before the Alcatraz battle scene. The finales in the series seemed to offer some hope, but I just wasn't convinved as much as the previous entires. Maybe it didn't meet all my x-pectations (sorry), but I had a good ride.
