Like many people, I was quite leery of this cartoon when I saw the promotion art. Having seen the first two episodes of the series now, all I can say is that my fears were unfounded. I love it. I really love it. I can get my Legion fix weekly, while I wait for the comic to come out. There's a whole lot to like about this show. The characterizations and the characters are appealing. The setting is reminiscent of the Silver Age. In fact, there's elements from all of the incarnations of The Legion, which appeals to the whole spectrum of Legion fans. The basic premise is that the Legion goes back in time to recruit Clark Kent to assist them in battling a group of villains. Clark is aware of his powers, but is inexperienced in his use of them. The Legion helps train Clark in the use of his powers, and Clark, taking the moniker of Superman, assists the Legion on their various missions. For those of you who are worried about the cast of thousands in the Legionverse, let me reassure you, it's not complicated. As it's a kiddo TV show, the creators are utilizing a core team and rotating other members in and out. There's Easter eggs galore for us Legion fans, but the plots are straightforward, at times humorous, and entertaining. I'm not real happy with the Brainiac 5 as a robot/transformer thing, but I suppose it makes sense from a toy marketing viewpoint. However, I was more than compensated for this fault by seeing the fabulous way they had Triplicate Girl perform tri-jitsu in the first episode. And we finally have Bouncing Boy back. 'Nuff said. Even my husband is enjoying the cartoon, and he's not a comics fan or a Legion fan. So, give it a shot and watch it some Saturday morning. I think you'll be glad you did. For me, having started reading the comic with Adventure #300, this is a dream come true. It's very evident from the cartoon that the creators have devoted a lot of thought and loving care into the end product.
