Stumblebum Studios Present Round Two!

Round Two is an enthusiastic compilation of comics short stories and prose short stories with a smattering of one panel comics. It is a highly entertaining collection well worth your time to pick up and read.

I like the variety offered in this anthology. Unlike most anthologies, there really is no common string holding this book together. There are stories about psychic super powered Nazis, there's a ghost tale/western, there's a story about an intergalactic restroom, there's a tale of rejected candy and much, much more. It's weird and quirky and absolutely delightful at the exact same time. The only thing is that the difference in mediums can be a little jarring for the reader.

For me, my brain goes into two different modes when reading prose versus reading a comic book. I read the book from start to finish, but had a lot of trouble fully cooperating on the short stories told completely in prose when my head was more receptive to a visual medium. I'd personally recommend reading the short stories first and then reading the comics or vice versa. Either way, it's all worth reading.

Being an anthology, the art varies widely from story to story and in a few cases within the story itself as multiple people work on panels for the story. The art is all very well crafted both in style and consistency, even if I don't personally find it all aesthetically pleasing. There isn't anything wrong with it. It just doesn't work for me, but not enough to detract from the story.

If you want a preview of the kind of stuff that you will find in this book before you purchase it, check out their website http://www.stumblebumstudios.com/home.htm If you like what you see there, you can pick up this book at their store http://www.stumblebumstudios.com/buybooks.htm. The book itself does not duplicate anything on the site. So, if you buy it, you're getting all knew content and trust me, it's worth it.
