THE DARK KNIGHT
Who is not going to review this film if they haven't already? Has anyone said anything particularly bad about it?
I think not.
I actually went in with an unease. I was seeing this a week after release, hearing only praise for the film.
On one hand, I was afraid the over-hype would lead to disappointment. On the other, I couldn't help think the media-unthinkable fact that maybe this high praise was because this was Heath Ledger's final film. Media charity of sorts. But I came out very happy with it. Heath Ledger's joker is the twisted jokes of Alan Moore and Frank Miller. He's dark and twisted. Chris Nolan decided to not explore his origins AT ALL to make him an absolute and that definitely works for the film. Keep an element of mystery to the character. Even the disfiguration is kept ambiguous by Joker himself in the film.
Christian Bale delivers a great "realistic" Batman once again. ( as realistic as Batman could theoretically be anyway… ). And the whole film has more of a feel of a gritty award-winning crime drama, with a few costumed freaks thrown in, than a comic book thrown up on screen. Definitely a MUST see for Batman fans . . . and wait till you see Harvey Dent!
