On board, the cruise will feature cocktail parties, slide shows, panel discussions, seminars, and much more comics programming. Fans will also be able to sign up for dinners and drinks with all the attending pros to guarantee time for some quality conversation. Of course, this is in addition to all the informal hanging-out in the ship's bars, pools, sundecks, restaurants, and casinos.

The cruise ship includes nine deck levels with a sliding scale of cabin prices, from luxury accommodations to "starving artist" rates. Prices include just about everything - food, 24 hour room service, even tips - except drinks and shopping. Altogether, the cruise is a unique opportunity for comics aficionados to wine, dine, and converse with some of their favorite creators in a relaxed, fun-filled atmosphere. Artist Mike Hoffman discovers Utopia!

In a major coup, Black Daze Publishing reveals that renowned fantasy artist Mike Hoffman will take over the art on their current series 'THE BALLAD OF UTOPIA" Drawn Dime Novels starting with a re-release of issue #1, volume two. Mike's work has appeared on numerous magazine covers, and he's well-known for his astonishing fantasy paintings and numerous comic titles, such as last year's highly-acclaimed "Tigress" mini-series, published by Basement Comics.

Creator, writer and original artist for "THE BALLAD OF UTOPIA", Barry Buchanan is ecstatic over this new addition to "THE BALLAD OF UTOPIA" team. "Over the course of producing the art for the first four and half issues, I realized that my drawing wasn't progressing as fast as I'd like" explains Buchanan. "I also was discovering that on top of my other roles on this comic, I was too slow art-wise for a bi-monthly title. So, while I went ahead with my artwork in the first three finished books, I was on the lookout for a new person to help out."

Barry continues "I'd seen a "Tigress" back issue, and was immediately struck by the classic quality of the book's artwork. Later, I had a table in artist's alley at one of the big cons, and Mike was a few rows over--so, I dropped by to talk with him. After showing him the first three issue of "THE BALLAD OF UTOPIA", Mike remarked that he was contemplating making his next project a different take on Westerns!"

After reading "TIGRESS", I emailed him my thoughts on the book and his art, and he replied that he loved "THE BALLAD OF UTOPIA", as it wasn't an "ordinary" Western at all. As we talked further, he showed interest in drawing the book, and naturally, I jumped at the opportunity to let him." Barry finishes with, "Since then, Mike has redrawn the entire issue that will be the "new" #1 and part of #2, and I've got to tell you, they challenge the writer in me to meet the higher standard he has set for the series. I couldn't be more pleased!"

"THE BALLAD OF UTOPIA" is the tale of two men's search for the person(s) responsible for murdering the local stage keep, Charlie Burnette. Due to their quest the secrets of the small, southwestern town of Utopia are slowly brought to light, much to the chagrin of the townsfolk and the other forces at work in Utopia.

"I've always thought that the old American West had a very macabre feeling to it," states Buchanan. " And with this series I hope to touch upon that impression. Now, with Mike's atmospheric drawing style and his momentous ability to bring out the personality and spirit of my characters, I think this book is going to do just that!"

"THE BALLAD OF UTOPIA" is a Western Gothic Drawn Dime Novel, 24 pages, b/w interiors, 4-color color cover, standard format comic. Cover price is $2.95 .

Image Comics J.U.D.G.E.

In March, Image comics will release J.U.D.G.E., an amazing new comic fully painted and written by Greg Horn. Horn is enthusiastic about his new project and explains how he achieved the unique look of his book . "I use traditional art such as watercolors and airbrush, scan them into the computer and then I’ll do some digital painting and editing on screen. There is also alot of 3 dimensional modeling. It would seem like all these different styles would clash, but with a little diligence I can get them all to mesh together." The results are striking and apparently others agree. "The response to this book has been tremendous." says Horn. "There is alot of people behind it and most of the news sources have gone out of their way to help me promote this title. Dynamic Forces' endorsement of an unknown creator such as myself, speaks volumes to me. I feel like I’m doing something really special." And special it is-- Using his groundbreaking combination of traditional and digital media, Horn delivers a surreal artistic vision that may change the way you look at comic art forever.

If J.U.D.G.E. is a hit, it won’t be an overnight success for Horn who has been working in the comics field for nearly ten years. He has pencilled for AC, Malibu, and Halloween Comics. Most recently, he illustrated the ESPers stories for Image Comics. "It was rough in those days. Nobody seems to notice you when you’re doing a black and white book, so one day I said to myself "Greg, you’ve got to do something that is so good, so compelling that a reader can’t possibly look at it and forget it. You must separate yourself from the pack somehow"... That was when I decided to start J.U.D.G.E."

But there is more than the art that should get readers and retailers excited. Horn has a special approach to production of his book. "J.U.D.G.E. is going to be presented in an epic format of twelve chapters and each chapter will be divided into its own self contained story arc of 3 or 4 issues. I think readers will be happy to know that the book has a specific direction and a specific ending. J.U.D.G.E. won't wander aimlessly from chapter to chapter with no end in sight."

This amazing new title is 27 pages long, written and fully painted by Greg Horn. It will ship with a 50/50 cover, and a limited Dynamic Forces edition.

Click Here for a few images from the first story which will be featured in Image's "Sneak Peek" inside the Previews catalog.

Retailers make sure you order enough of the comic to fill demand. Fan pre-order with your retailer to insure you get a copy of J.U.D.G.E. before it sells out.

BRIAN PULIDO ANNOUNCES NEW COMIC BOOK PUBLISHING COMPANY - INFINITY!

Scottsdale, AZ - December 15, 1999 - The comic book business is about to gain another player, Brian Pulido, President and Publisher of Chaos! Comics, announced today. "It gives me great pride to announce our new comic book company, Infinity," Pulido says. "This new venture has been a long time coming, with literally thousands of hours spent in researching and developing exactly what it will stand for and how it will survive and grow in today's comic book marketplace.

From the outset, Pulido made it clear that Infinity is not just an imprint of the popular Chaos! Comics label. "Infinity is a wholly separate company from Chaos! Comics, and will be treated as such," Pulido says. "We're taking a look at distinctly non super-heroic, heroic adventures in genres that span action, adventure, fantasy, sci-fi and the supernatural. We are dealing with the 'heroic' point of view, but in a more contemporary way, aimed at the widest audience possible.

"While we want regular comic book readers to pick up Infinity titles, we're also crafting them in such a manner that they will appeal to the widest audience possible - not just comic fans. Much in the same way The Matrix appealed to hard-core science fiction fans as well as fans of good, heroic-adventure driven, intelligent movies, Infinity titles will appeal, across the board, to readers and fans of many genres."

"As we are looking to reach a much wider audience than just comic fans, we're looking at new ideas for getting comic books into the public's hands - making them available to our target audience where they're at, rather than forcing them to come looking for us, which, time has shown, doesn't work."

Pulido also announced that from its debut, Infinity will be working closely with many key studios and producers in Hollywood, both producing content for possible adaptation into other forms of media, and expanding content from studios.

"While saying we're 'breaking the rules' is so much overused hyperbole in today's market, we're hoping to use Infinity to expand the mass market's perception of what a comic book is about and what they can accomplish," Pulido says. The best way I can describe what Infinity will encompass is to think of a motion picture studio on paper."

The new line is set to debut in May/June of 2000, with one to two mini-series running every month. "Were going to work with the mini-series format because it gives the audience what they're looking for in a story - a simple structure with a beginning, a middle and an end," Pulido says. "This approach also gives us the opportunity to work with many different creators and properties in a relatively short period of time."

Pulido reports that for its first year, Infinity will utilize known creators for the comic book field, but will expand its creator base by the end of the first year and beginning of the second, adding noted screenwriters and producers to its stable.

"We're interested in telling character-driven stories that strike a chord with a large audience," Pulido says. "With Infinity, our tagline has become 'the possibilities are endless,' and that's not just hype. Infinity isn't Chaos!, nor is it going to be like any other company out there. We feel that that difference, along with the stories we tell, will be embraced by comic fans as well as a new audience that is looking for high quality stories and art - full-blown blockbuster movies in comic book form."

Infinity is supported with advertisements in Chaos! Comics as well as trade ads, and posters, and new releases at the Chaos! Comics website at www.chaoscomics.com. More Infinity news, including announcements of the first Infinity title and creative team are forthcoming.

THE BITCH IS BACK!

EVEN ARMAGEDDON COULDN'T STOP PURGATORI FROM RETURNING TO CHAOS! COMICS!

Armageddon has come and gone. The last time anyone saw Purgatori was lying at the feet of the utterly unstoppable being known as Armageddon, just before the entire Chaos! Cosmos was completely obliterated in a wave of primal energy.

But as Chaos! fans know, that end only meant a new beginning - the beginning of the new, Dark Millennium. Lady Death has already proven herself stronger than Armageddon, so has Lady Demon. Now, the two are joined by a third in Purgatori: Empire #1 coming in April from Chaos! Comics.

"This is the Purgtori that Chaos! fans know and love - with a difference!" says Chaos! President Brian Pulido. "In 'Dark Millennium,' the villains are darker and fiercer. Purgatori may not be the top vamp for very long if she doesn't adapt quickly to this dark new world."

In this new world, an Egyptian dynasty unlike any other in recorded history has arisen. Its unquestioned queen, Purgatori, the one-time Egyptian slave who was transformed into a vampire, but did not stop her quest for power until she reached godhood. Now, as the Goddess of Blood sits on her throne, absolute ruler of all she sees, a coven of ancient vampires has set a plan in motion that will remove Purgatori from her seat of power and topple her kingdom, scattering her legacy to the desert sands!

As Purgatori deals with the intrigue the coven sends her way, she loses her heart most unexpectedly to a slave girl who will change her life forever. A rich saga filled with intrigue, evil, love and hot blood, Purgatori: Empire #1 is sure to satisfy your longing for epic action and wicked betrayal set amongst an Egypt that could have been - or may come to be.

"Somewhat in the tradition of Purgatori: The Vampire's Myth, this series is steeped in Egyptian visuals and rituals," Pulido says. "Together with Purgatori, it makes for an incredible fantasy environment!"

Written by Armageddon and Lady Death: Judgment War co-writer, fan favorite Len Kaminski, Purgatori: Empire is lavishly illustrated by Ken Lashley.

Purgatori: Empire #1 ) (of 3) is a full color, 32 page comic shipping in April from Chaos! Comics that retails for $2.95. As a special incentive, for every 25 copies of Purgatori: Empire #1 ordered, retailers will receive one copy of Purgatori: Empire #1 premium edition FREE.

The premium edition of Purgatori: Empire #1, features a cover by Steven (Lady Death) Hughes, and retails for $9.95.

Also shipping in April is the Purgatori: Collected Edition Vol. 1, which collects the first two issues of the Purgatori monthly series that featured her battle with Lady Death!
